My theory on Dean: cake and eat it too (what do you think?)
Edited on Thu Jun-09-05 02:32 PM by seshers
There may be a few * followers who wish to change sides. A Democrat (ie: Biden, Edwards, etc) that appears to be more centrist in nature gives them someone with whom to identify. They see these players as a milder, more conservative choice. This could be seen as a good thing.

On the other hand, the more vocal bunch (Dean, Kennedy, Boxer, etc) serve several important roles. Obviously they motivate the base by speaking the unheard truths. AMEN. But, they also act as "lightening rods". By pulling MSM attention towards their escapades, they create opportunities to address the real issues. When played well, they can force the opposition into a defensive stance. Framing the issues and defining the parties character could be our advantage again.

Remember, we have the truth on our side. Don't be afraid to play hard ball.

I Believe.

1. The Republicans will only change sides
if you can give them a Democrat to believe in. There is no way they will change parties for someone like Edwards (the Republicans can easily portray hin as a phony populist who will do anything to get elected).
