1. I heard that on our local newscast
NBC affiliate which rarely reports anything negative about W.

The Today Show?- No mention of it but they did have an interview with the missing blonde's Dad.

3. I realized that's why they call it the "Amber Alert" and not
the "Maria Alert" or an "Imani Alert" (had to look that up (http://slate.msn.com/id/2116449/sidebar/2116453/). Why don't they call it something else, I don't know. :/

5. It was named after Amber Hagerman - kidnapped and murdered in TX
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 08:59 AM by Oreo
http://www.amberalert.gov/
History of AMBER Alert

The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. AMBER stands for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnaped while riding her bicycle in Arlington, Texas, and then brutally murdered. Other states and communities soon set up their own AMBER plans as the idea was adopted across the nation.

4. Funny W actually complained (a bit) about this in the Cavutop interview
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 09:30 AM by underpants
not that I watched it or read it but Cavuto was on Hannity the other day (it was on when I got in the truck) and he said that W finds that the news media ;-) has made it hard for him to get his message out about Social Security-at least that is what Cavuto said W said.

7. I can't believe 43% of the people are still so deluded
That's some kind of monument to the propaganda machine at their disposal, I guess.

8. "Mixed Feelings" and "Unsure" are virtually non-existent.
Wow! Statistical noise. The country is polarized against the vapid little emperor now. No fence-sitters. It's "fish or cut bait" and the tide is coming in, baby!

Beware of major distractions coming soon. Iran? Syria?

9. They are more than covered by "The Elvis Factor"
Apparently, in any poll, 7% of all Americans believe Elvis is still alive, and half of those believe that if they send him a letter they will get one back.

10. Just One Significant Problem With That Poll...
...it doesn't matter!

Boy George could have a 10% approval rating, and he'd still be out there pushing corporatized (not privatized) Social Security and Right Wing Radical Judges.

Bush will be pig headed and will get his way or else. Patriot Act is next. It will be renewed exactly the way it was or else.

Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 10:23 AM by LaPera
Then the media will run stories 24/7 and Bush will talk tough, put the fear back into the people and his approval ratings will again skyrocket...

Same old story, these fascist know how to control the frightened masses.

Not that any "approval" rating will stop them from continuing the lies their corporate agenda and ideology. Who's to stop them?

They just laugh at us and use smokescreen after smokescreen for ultimate media distortion & distractions.

12 point spread between approve/disapprove. Imagine that spread if we had a real media doing its job instead of a bunch of cowed butt-lickers.

25. Same as a month ago
more dead soldiers, the DSM, fascist judges on the bench, bad employment numbers, creeping stagflation, and still almost 1/2 think things are great. When we're nuked by a coalition of the 100's of countries he's pssied off, or we're all speaking Chinese, he'll still be over 40%. As long as the media works for him, things are rosy in GOP land.

Nixon- 25%?

Would it matter how low it goes for the Bush Regime?

They are still in power and do what they want to do or can that be changed?

Bush was polling like shit, and stories of massive fraud in Florida were about to be published. Then, there was a terrorist attack that saved Bush's ass.

35. 43%?!?!? About time for a building or two to come down isn't it?
I wish to hell that his ratings would drop from 43 to 3% but it worries the hell out of me as to what Chimp and Rove would do to bump it back up.

Sadly, they know what the ONLY thing is that makes Chimps numbers go up....

37. MSNBC this morning said there were new "dismal" poll ratings for Bush...
But it was one of those deals where you had to tune in until after the commercials, etc.. and I was heading out the door.

They also reported on CNN that Ah-nuld was at an all time low of 40% approval rating..
