Republican strategery for Bush in 2004 |
|
We spend a lot of time discussing our own strategies for victory, and floating conspiracy theories about what Republicans will do against our nominee... I would like to get some ideas of how you think Rove et all will try to position Bush himself before the election in '04, and how they will try to frame Bush despite his abyssmal record.
For example, they always try to lower expectations of Bush - so that any "perceived victory" is seen as huge, and he gets a bump in the polls. We saw this in the debates against Gore. We saw this in the 2002 elections. I fully expect them to lower expectations in 2004 - and then come out swinging with everything they've got.
What will their Bush re-election campaign look like - aside from sending surrogates out to attack our nominee and trying to remain above the fray?

1. Simple folksy stuff from Bush himself |

While behind the scenes they repeat over and over the fear of high taxes and terrorism that America will have should they elect the Democratic nominee.

An old Nixon theme. It'll be very effective as long as the economy doesn't turn down and there continue to be propaganda victories overseas.
