We should walk to the White House with Conyers
John Conyers writes, "At the conclusion of the hearing, we will go to Lafayette Park and I will personally deliver your signatures to the White House."

What if we could line the streets with supporters? I think that could be huge.

1. I agree
I think all dem congresswomen/men and senators should join in as well. Unless, of course, they don't think it's important enough.

6. And then he is delivering his petition to the White House *in person*
The petition in which concerned citizens demand an explanation for why we are in this war.

7. I think there will be a big procession.
I think Conyers has hit a chord with a lot of Americans. I expect he will have a lot of good company with him next week. He's a great American.

8. Let's start calling and faxing congressmen and senators. Get them onboard
Edited on Fri Jun-10-05 07:51 PM by old blue
Conyers is trying to do nothing less than save the union.

Then I recall the beltway traffic.

11. I live in Michigan
And I just thought this up 10 minutes ago, so I don't even know if it's feasible for me to go. But if this idea flies at DU, and we can get a buzz going, I'll sure as hell find a way to get there.

12. Beltway traffic or not, if I didn't have three small kids at home...
I'd be cashing in frequent flier miles. I would LOVE to be there.

35. I know -
my family and volunteer obligations are killing me right now! I wish I could just say, "I'll be gone to this protest or that for a couple days - call me if you need me!".

I can't even get to local protests anymore. I have put them all on notice that after November, I am done (the volunteer work, not the kids!)

13. I'm in Michigan, too
And my daughter used to live in DC, but since December is in Florida. I wish I could go.

Hey, Old Blue, do you know about the Funday party next Saturday in Saginaw at 5thgendemocrat's house? If not, check out the Michigan Forum. Sounds like a lot of fun. My hubby and I are going. Where do you live? We're in Huntington Woods.

IF - I can leave DC by 12:30-1:00 so I could be back here for the T-ball and Little League games my boyos playing! :) -- I'll be there.

If not, I'm trying to get daughter to rearrange HER schedule so she at least can be there for me. (And bring her friends!!)
