1. despair is mine, too..
"Is there anything more depressing than watching the Democratic Party lie down in front of the Bush administration's public-relations and political steamroller? The latest cave-in -- giving Bush three far-right judges in exchange for the temporary preservation of the Senate's filibuster perogative -- was enough to make me violate Jefferson's dictum against despairing of the commonwealth."

Boy, do I relate to that despair!

4. Bush's ultra right wing judges have been marginalized
for all time. Any opinions they issue will carry a footnote that the judges were once rejected and then confirmed to avoid a government shut down. They are political pawns, not qualified judges.

2. War in Iraq okay.
That guy is a loser. Maybe he should send his diatribe to the troops in Iraq. . .

10. Sorry, already done my time in uniform......
....Got out in 1981, and I sure wouldn't re-enlist under Emperor Bush. Wanna compare DD214's????? This president and your beloved troops have caused the death of over 20,000 innocent people in a country that we had NO BUSINESS INVADING. They have indeed "murdered" women and children. This blood is on your hands and mine. I will not support this illegal war or the people carrying it out. Sorry if this offends your delicate sensibilities.

"That guy is a loser. Maybe he should send his diatribe to the troops in Iraq. . ."

Waddaya think they are, supermen? If they were, there wouldn't be over 1,600 of them coming back in Aluminum Transfer Cases. How about you telling me what I said that was untrue? If you support the troops, you support the war. It's that simple.

Hey, I forgot to save my "diatribe". Could any of you good Americans send it via email, and would you be kind enough to forward it to any troop in Iraq you think it would piss off or better yet make them rethink their involvement in Bush's little state of perpetual war.

I will debate this murderous war with ANYBODY, civilian, enlisted, or veteran. Oh, and the sight of a man in uniform doesn't make me go limp like some in this discussion board.

How about debating this instead of crying to the moderator about your hurt feelings?

12. ermm...you talking to me?
cuz i sure wasn't talking to you. But thank you for your service all the same.

i'm not crying to anyone, btw. I am grieving for the troops in Iraq's quagmire, and for the ones lost in the *moron's oil war.

13. looks like I owe you an apology...
...and you are right, he IS a moron and it IS indeed a quagmire.

Still, I can only mourn for the innocent Iraqi victims of this aggregious expansion of Empire. I have trouble seeing the "brainwashed" as victims, even though I understand "economic consription". Hell, I sorta wound up in the army that way, well that and I'd heard a lot of good things about German hashish. But, I've just heard so often in interviews with soldiers, "I enlisted after Sept. 11, blah, blah, blah, cause I wanted to get those bastards".

I admit that every time I watch Fahrenheit 911, I get emotional over Lila Lipscomb. But remember that there are some real gung-ho murderin' lunatics in this man's army, and they are not victims in any sense of the word. Well, that's my disclaimer. Sorry if I attacked you wrongly.

3. The Dems are doing just fine
How low can a president go in ratings before he and his followers are thought of as a national joke?

7. Oh, yeah, doing just great...
Other than being completely powerless to prevent Bush's judges from being confirmed, allowing themselves to subscribe to a humiliating "deal" that really isn't a deal at all, watching helplessly as most of Bush's legislation gets rammed through as law...

Tell me again how we're "doing just fine"?

6. Good points made by MacArthur
Dean has spent more time making himself the focus of attention with statements that need to be qualified the next day than he has speaking out about the war and the lobbyist system of Congressional government. Those are two of the main issues Americans are concerned about.

I don't know if he should go back to practicing medicine, but he should focus on the topics that made followers for him in the first place.

8. Since you insist on bashing Dean with this piece of crap
Let me remind you--and the author of this piece--that Dean's JOB is not to set the policy concerning the war, etc. His JOB is to EXPLAIN the policy set by the party LEADERS.

Who EVER spent time asking Terry McAuliffe why he didn't speak out AGAINST THE WAR?

It's time to stop the Dean bashing.

Maybe if YOU and the other Dean bashers spent more time speaking out, yourselves, against the war, etc. instead of attacking the Chair, we really MIGHT get somewhere!

11. I dont understand. Dean was right.
Edited on Sat Jun-11-05 05:37 PM by HR_Pufnstuf
He said "pretty much a white, christian party" and it is.

Read this and tell me different:
http://www.retrovsmetro.org/book/chapter_4.html

"The Republican Party, as represented by its affiliated lawmakers in the state legislatures, is almost 99 percent white, 82.2 percent male, and 1.1 percent minority. By contrast, Democratic state lawmakers are about 80 percent white, 72.6 percent male, and 20.1 percent minority."

needs exactly the kind of leadership that Dean is providing...tell me, sir, what is YOUR vision? because before Dean, who the hell knew...I think the democratic party is in for a civil war and it just may be about time, clear the air..maybe create a third party..but whatever, be clear and concise and republican light ain't acceptable
