Lieberman Spot Uses Tape of the Toppling Statue of Hussein
This 30-second advertisement began running this weekend in New Hampshire for Senator Joseph I. Lieberman of Connecticut. It is the first Democratic advertisement to celebrate Saddam Hussein's fall.

PRODUCER Integrity Minded Media.

ON THE SCREEN The spot opens with the now-famous shot of a Hussein statue crashing to the ground in Baghdad and then in writing, "We are safer with Saddam Hussein in prison, not in power." The next image is of Mr. Lieberman speaking to voters from a podium, an American flag behind him. The spot then intersperses images of Mr. Lieberman addressing voters and the written statements "Joe Lieberman warned about Al Qaeda before George Bush knew who they were" and "Think about Joe Lieberman's courage and conviction."

THE SCRIPT An announcer: "Saddam Hussein. Only one candidate was clear we are safer with Saddam Hussein in prison, not in power. Joe Lieberman — a national leader in the fight against terrorism and tyranny. Joe Lieberman forced George Bush to create the Department of Homeland Security. He was warning about Al Qaeda long before George Bush knew who they were. When you think about the dangers facing our country, think about Joe Lieberman's courage and conviction. It just might make all the difference." Mr. Lieberman: "I'm Joe Lieberman and I approved this message."

1. If anyone was wondering why Lieberman is hated, here's why.

2. Dear Joe...
Exactly why would those voters want you instead of George Bush...

Has he ever answered that question?

5. Lieberman has no sense
That is why he's going to lose.

The question above is a good one. Why would anyone want Joe over Bush? If people are going to vote for someone based on the war in Iraq - aren't they just going to vote for Bush?

Second, why does Lieberman insist on spitting in the faces of the people he wants to vote for him?

All in all, a very bizarre ad indeed. No logic.

8. I'm no political expert
but isn't it a cardinal rule that if you're running against an incumbent, you try to highlight how you're different from him?

9. Sure, unless you're both on the same side
...in which case you run on the other guy's coat-tails. I think Lieberman must think he's really the VP.

11. Well he keeps saying that this is about the fact that "we" won in 00
Which in all fairness they did but if that is case then why is Lieberman following Bush's Iraq war policy as well as free trade issues? He even said himself that he is like Bush except for the economy. Well hell, why doesn't he just get out of the presidential race and endorse Bush???? Even if he did get the nomination (though that point is moot!), can you imagine what a Bush/Lieberman debate would be like??? Bush would win 49 out of 50 states if it came down to that. Lieberman is wasting his time in this race and should just step aside.

10. As Harry Truman said
"If you give the voters a choice between a Republican and a Democrat who acts like a Republican, they'll pick the Republican everytime."

Someone should remind Joe of that quote.

15. Found this interesting article on Lieberman.
If any article brings the fact that Lieberman should bow out of the race and endorse Bush, this one is it.

17. That should look good in a spot during the powell/Kay reports on the news
Maybe lieberman should run powell at the UN or bush's SOTU from last year, or cheney saying saddam had NUCLEAR weapons or rums saying he knew where they were or rice or blair or....

I really don't know if I could pull a lever for lieberman. I really don't know if I could. Evidently, I won't have to worry about it.

See ya, joe.

At least he's consistent on his IWR vote, unlike another candidate I could name.

20. My position exactly.
Joe honestly believes the war is right, I can respect and vote for that, even though I opposed the war. It's the electorally calculated votes that annoy me, especially when by in large you didn't have to since your constituents would have re-elected you anyways. Ted Kennedy did it, I don't know why Kerry couldn't.

Along with many others, but this is another stone in the lake as to why I will never, never, never, under any circumstances vote for Lieberman.

23. Dude you better change the nickname bit.
DU moderators are a little ruthless these days about candidate nicknames. Just some friendly advice!
