Howard Dean is a genius with a brilliant strategy |
|
if only the other Dems would follow it. Howard says something revolutionary and out of the box like "Republicans are a White Christian party". Which is really just stating a fact. But his statement gets attention and requires follow-up - not just by him but by people like Biden, Pelosi, Ford, Reid, Kerry etc. Unfortunately they have their heads up their posteriors and can't see how Howard is teeing it up for them. "We too have as our majority White Christians but our membership is far more diverse than the Republicans."
Dean set-up "Many Republicans haven't worked an honest day in their life."
"I can only guess he was referring to the top 1% who benefitted from the tax cuts. I don't think he was talking about the average wage-earning Republican. We'd like to see those people join us, because we're the ones looking out for them."
Dean set-up "Conservatives are evil" "I believe he MUST have been referring to the small group of conservatives who have adopted torture as part of their official policy. That's the only thing I can figure out he means."
Why can't our guys get with the program and recognize when our guy passes them the ball deep in the endzone?

3. Dean tends to overstep with his rhetoric |
|
The quip "Many Republicans haven't worked an honest day in their life." is nothing more than ammo to use against him...it dilutes his message.
And frankly, it's quite a stupid thing to say for someone in his present stature. Instead of the idea that he's "throwing the ball downfield", he's simply doing what he did in the primaries...where his handlers would roll their eyes and say "there goes Howard again..." They'd have to go out and explain "what he really meant".
