You know what pisses me off? Comparing the amount of $ Dean has raised
to the amount the RNC has raised.

On political fundraising, the DNC trails the Republican Party by more than 2-to-1 despite Dean's reputation as a potent fundraiser. The Democrats have raised almost $19 million so far this year.

The Democrats didn't cut taxes for the rich so that they could funnel it back into the party. When will someone point that out??

However, I'm pleased that the author of this story did compare the amount of contributions to the Dems according to THE PAST AND PRESENT CHAIRMAN:

Dean said he is bringing in $1 million weekly. Records show the DNC took in $13.8 million over the first three months of 2005, compared with $8.4 million during the same period in 2003, the last year without a federal election. Terry McAuliffe was party chairman then.

:hi:

I saw in another thread where you posted that Dean has raised $100K since this garbage started.

Where did you get that info?

You need to post it in a separate thread.

:hi:

15. Unfortunately, he said it himself in his speech Saturday
so there's no link unless there's a video or transcript of that somewhere (DNC? C-Span?)

3. Dean is doing a great job
Dean is ahear of other democratic chairman for fundraising at a similar time. Comparisons to the amounts raised by the repugs is wrong.

6. It seems reasonable to me
considering we'll be running against the GOP in '06 and '08. We don't have a way-back machine to go back in time and run against McAuliffe's DNC.

Now I agree it's NOT fair to say Dean is failing or succeeding based on that comparison - but it IS a valuable comparison to make.

13. It's simple logic...
we should always be comparing how we're doing financially against the opposition. The opposition is NOT the democrats of 2000, but the Republicans of 2006. I don't think it's unreasonable at all to compare how we're doing compared to them.

4. You KNOoooow...
We could actually use the difference to our advantage.

Why on Earth are the Republicans able to raise so much more money than we are? Because they're all about making money for their corporate buddies.

12. Repubs raise so much money because they own the corporations
in turn which own the repub politicians.

10. Here are the facts-Dean is raising more in an off year than any DNC Chair
Edited on Sat Jun-11-05 05:24 PM by Douglas Carpenter
This comes from Stampy 52 on 2/3 Jun 05

A quick look at actual FEC reports shows that Dean has raised more money in an off year than any DNC Chair in history.
First Quarter of 2005 - $16.7 million
Q1/2004 - $28.7 million
Q1/2003 - $8.7 million
Q1/2002 - $11.8

And Dean is on pace to break the midyear fundraising of $23.7 in the first six months of 2001.

11. Raising money is good
But even better is how some of it id being spent---sending organizers and funding state parties so we can build the infrastructure we need to become competitive in the purple states.

14. On MTP it was pointed out that the ratio was 3-1 under
McCauliffe. So contrary to what Novak and the other Republican hacks are peddling, we are doing better under Dean's leadership. We will always trail the Republicans in money, and quite frankly, if we didn't, I would wonder whether we had lost our soul.

The Republican echo chamber....
.. has to discredit Dean any way they can. They use misleading statistics to make their case over and over for every issue, this is no different.

Dean is beating our own benchmarks which are the only valid comparisons there can be.
