He still owns Fox, right? Presumably the Sunday Times editor works under some condition of relative autonomy!

2. I think it's more correct to say that it came out in spite of Murdoch... |
|
don't forget that this was the man who supported the Iraq war for economic reasons, and claimed that oil would drop as low as $13 a barrell if the US invaded.

Murdoch owns Faux. The fact that something he thought might help take down Blair (remember, it came out three days before the election) was allowed to get into the British press does not make up for his publications and broadcast/cable outlets putting on spangly clothes, knee-high go-go boots and beating that big ol' drum of war for all these years.
No way.
on edit: his American news outlets will do everything they can to besmirch and impugn anybody who asks any questions or puts any stock in the DSM, so it works out great for him either way.

4. Are you suggesting he's igniting the story in UK in order |
|
to get paid for trying to dowse the flames in the US?
That's pretty Machiavellian! :-)

Murdoch and his ilk thrive on "controlled chaos" and are out for the almighty buck and the pinnacle of power. It just happens that they seem to have it out for Bush now. It's not for the greater good, but for their own benefit. Bush has become a liability. So the godfathers of this world has made him expendable, so that their power drive can continue.
While it's great that Bush may get his comeuppance, there are still greater enemies to confront and stop. The fall of Bush is not the end-all.
