Did the WaPo miss the REAL story?
IT'S THE LEGALITY, STUPID!

Go read the UK papers--where they still have a free press:

Ministers were told of need for Gulf war ‘excuse’
Michael Smith

MINISTERS were warned in July 2002 that Britain was committed to taking part in an American-led invasion of Iraq and they had no choice but to find a way of making it legal.

Meanwhile, the WaPo has defined the conversation today by focusing on the "unprepared for aftermath" angle, inoculating the press against the need to ask the really hard questions.

I am underwhelmed by the WaPo story. Go to the UK source people!

1. Danced around it
Pincus knows real well what the story is. His editors are not yet ready to throw in the towel and tell it. But they will. It is just a matter of time. The fact that this made it to page one is a good sign of the coming capitulation.
