Here's mine:
Dear Representative Dingell:
I am very concerned about the decisions and actions the U.S. government has made regarding Iraq and the "War on Terror." I write to you in particular, Congressman Dingell, as my elected representative in the House, to urge you to hold the Bush administration accountable for the decisions it made in the run-up to war with Iraq. As more and more people become aware of the Downing Street Memo, the authenticity of which has still not been challenged by the British or U.S. governments, it is becoming clearer and clearer that the present U.S. administration manipulated intelligence to manufacture support for what it knew to be an illegal war.
A month shy of my thirtieth birthday, I find myself living in a country whose leader is now considered, perhaps with good reason, by much of the rest of the world to be a war criminal. This is utterly unacceptable. The United States is supposed to be better than this. All Democrats and sensible Republicans in Washington must take a stand, immediately, to halt and reverse the perilous course the Bush administration has begun.
The implications of the Downing Street memo are too grave to ignore, no matter the political climate in Washington. I urge you, Congressman Dingell, to support your colleague, Congressman Conyers, as he leads the inquiry into the matter. Conyers will hold a hearing on the Downing Street Memo on Thursday, June 16. After the hearing, he will personally deliver a petition to the White House containing over 500,000 signatures (mine among them), asking for an explanation as to the claim by British officials that "facts and intelligence were being fixed around policy." I request that you attend the hearing, and join Conyers as he proceeds to the White House.
Demand answers to reasonable questions. The Bush administration's arrogant insistence on ignoring difficult questions can no longer be tolerated.
