OMG! CNN's own words: IMPEACH BUSH
Note the date on this:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/LAW/06/06/findlaw.analysis.dean.wmd/

"President George W. Bush has got a very serious problem. Before asking Congress for a joint resolution authorizing the use of U.S. military forces in Iraq, he made a number of unequivocal statements about the reason the United States needed to pursue the most radical actions any nation can undertake -- acts of war against another nation."

"There are two main possibilities. One, that something is seriously wrong within the Bush White House's national security operations. That seems difficult to believe. The other is that the president has deliberately misled the nation, and the world. "

14. John Dean is a good guy.
He's been writing about CuckooBananas for some time now, always in the same vein as this article.

He's the one Watergate person who, from the moment the mess hit hard, has taken the path of truth. John Dean is an honorable person who deserves respect, IMHO.

25. Absolutely. He's one of my all-time personal heroes.
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 10:09 PM by Eloriel
I'll NEVER, for as long as I live, forget his testimony during the Senate Watergate hearings. It was stellar. He seemed to have a near photographic memory, and he was clearly simply brilliant, well-spoken (as he is now when you see him on TV), and, as you say, honorable.

I adore him.

AND, he's still married to his wife Maureen ("Mo"), who was simply beautiful and quite elegant back then.

31. I'll never forget it either.
Never.

Dean was articulate, intelligent and yes, quite honorable, despite all the revisionism we've seen lately concerning Watergate.

They can't fool all of us since many of us are old enough to remember it!

Maureen was there every single day sitting behind him.

32. Mo at the Watergate hearings.
Edited on Sun Jun-12-05 10:59 PM by longship
I've heard that Mo's appearance at the Senate Watergate Hearings was orchestrated. She normally wore her hair down, in a more stylish manner, but it was thought that if she played the role of the conservative, loyal wife there would be more sympathy for her husband. That was the origin of the severe pulled back style. Or, so I've heard.

If that was true, it worked. Not that John Dean needed sympathy. His testimony in front of the Senate blew the Watergate case wide open.

Here's Mo at the Senate hearings.

76. Amen! John Dean is a good guy. And yes, here the pot-kettle effect
figures in, too. He, of all people, would be CERTAIN to know and to speak with credibility about impeachment-related issues.

Yes, he's a good guy. He saw the light a long time ago. If you followed his writings on findlaw.com, you'd see he had many misgivings about these jackals practically from the beginning. He's clear-sighted, intelligent, informed, and has been there and back. And yes, Eloriel, he was breathtaking during the Senate Watergate hearings. Breathtaking! I'll never forget it, either. I was mesmerized by his testimony, his composure, and his near-total recall. I think most of the nation was. He came off as extremely credible. And it was he who uttered that exquisite quote (paraphrased): "there is a cancer on the presidency. And it's growing bigger and more deadly every day."

He knows it when he sees it. I wish more people would listen to him. I'm surprised CNN even lets him on the air.

15. CNN is liberal? Could you please support that with proof?
I would be so very interested to learn what basis in fact you have to support that conclusion. I have concluded that they are working for corporate control of our governmnent, (=fascism.) They failed to report on Bush's missed year in the Guard, his giant tax cuts for zillionaires resulting in a catastrophic debt load we owe to communist china, loss of 1700 American lives and thousands more wounded for a war based on greed into which we were coaxed with LIES which CNN did no better job reporting on than Fox, the head war cheerleader. They have not allowed the truth into the homes of Americans but drip feed us sugar water instead of real information. As democracy depends on an informed electorate and they are misinforming us, they are anti-American in their actions. Their constant negative portrayal of progressive candidates and failure to hold the Bush Crime Empire to the light of day kind of refutes you assertion there buddy.
Whoops.
I'll check back later for your insights all about how CNN is liberal. Really interested.

23. Someone on Fox News said that Howard Dean was nuts,
and that CNN is liberal, and that the Iraq war is fighting for Freedom (Tm) and that John Kerry with two purple hearts was a coward but our AWOL president was a hero. But I hear Howard Dean speak and he makes all the sense in the world, and I don't see our freedoms endangered by Iraqis but by our own government, and John Kerry did what he did, and W did as well. But when they edit Howard Dean down to two seconds and play one clip over and over and over...you would ALMOST think they were trying to manufacture public opinion with propaganda, or something, wouldn't you?

Ya, it stinks to me too, I'm hoping we have an open mind here rather than a troll. I'm amazed at how little friends of mine see non-corporate news. They didn't know it was available. Here's hoping!

Shrubhater is my son, and he's only fourteen years old. He is most assuredly NOT NOT NOT any kind of troll in any way, shape or form whatsoever and I really don't appreciate how everyone's jumped on him on this thread. He only recently started watching CNN in any kind of regular basis, and he's been told by some teachers and administrators at his school that CNN is liberal. He tends to take things very literally and didn't mean that as a trollish comment.

And claim that any republican congressman that stands in the way would have stood by Hitler as he gassed millions. This is what we need to do to make this happen. The threat of being unseated in an upcoming election is a much better position than letting them hold their seat and trying to convince them after. We just let them know that we can do this the easy way, or the hard way, what's it gonna be?

77. Hey, I rawther LIKE that - "let them know that we can do this the easy way
or the hard way, what's it gonna be?"

I like that A LOT. I think that's what we should do now. EVERY time, repeat, EVERY time you call YOUR reps, OR someone else's, the word "impeachment" or a reference to impeaching bush MUST be included in your spiel. MUST. MUST. MUST. It has to get into the zeitgeist now. The concept of impeachment MUST be THOROUGHLY ON THE TABLE so it gets into the debate and the collective consciousness now. It is NO LONGER TABOO. Let's make sure it stays that way.

And YES, press ahead with this whether your rep is a Dem or a republi-CON. Because the republi-CONS MUST be made aware that this movement is gaining momentum out there - even in their own home turf, and they ignore it AT THEIR PERIL. And keep in mind: Nixon didn't agree to resign until PEOPLE IN HIS OWN PARTY came to him and told him he'd lost all support - and specifically FROM THEIR SIDE OF THE AISLE. So, yes, they can be brought along. SOME of them, I believe, are actually redeemable, and may be increasingly willing to consider what's best for THE COUNTRY, over and above what helps their own party.

27. Actually, it was 2 years ago
Just after the invasion when people were wondering where in the hell the WMD were and why they haven't found them yet.

Of course, if the DSM had come out then, Bush would never have been re-selected.

35. Read on: This is getting "very interesting...."
SNIPPED from same article:

Now it is clear that many of his statements appear to be false. In the past, Bush's White House has been very good at sweeping ugly issues like this under the carpet, and out of sight. But it is not clear that they will be able to make the question of what happened to Saddam Hussein's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) go away -- unless, perhaps, they start another war...

Aa-ha. Hmmmm... Interesting.

But, why does CNN & MSNBC place these type of significantly important eye-opening articles on their websites, and NOT on the MSM Tube where most Americans could catch this?

:banghead:

57. News Reports are Sketchy: Some say he basically did.
When bLAIR & Bush were questioned about this, they couldn't deny it. It would have been a "lie," like 1 that took down Clinton.

To think, Clinton had a consenting affair w/an adult. Told a lie and was ousted. How many men, and women have lied over an affair? How many men and women have had extra-martial affairs? How many Repuks are without sin I ask?

We all know the answers to these questions.

Now, how many have done the atrocities this adm has committed, not just to us and our troops, but to the world and how they view us now.

53. "Is lying about the war an impeachable offense?" Hell yes!
If a sitting president can be impeached for a blow job, then surely Bush can be indicted for war crimes. Can he????????

59. is cnn afraid to post a poll asking the same question that the dean
article asks,

Is lying about the reason for a war an impeachable offense?

My bet is that the YES side of the poll would VERY HIGH. AND what would the Senate and the House do if they were to find that people think bush ought to be impeached for lying the reason for going to war in iraq.

63. The phrase
"two possibilities" bluntly gets off the neutral path to spin. The only way out of impeachment would be to fudge the record and admit calamitous ignorance, distance and mistakes even in the relationship with Britain.

That is, IF Bush were ever faced down. The fact is, Bush is evading even facing down the call to account. His party stands as a vast host of hypocrisy and cowardice to take all the heat. So much for Bush spending his "mandate". The Dems have noting to lose by keep pounding the call to account. They can only lose my mirroring the GOP cowardice and hypocrisy by pretending to be panicked by polls or press as if that were an excuse to not do their duty. Unlike Bush we need not pretend an outcome has been reached, only that the truth must be held to account.

73. That depends
On if CNN paid Dean or not for those words. If they did, then they are Dean's words. And NOTE: It is NOT an editorial piece as suggested by others. It is an ANALYSIS peice, a type of story CNN would PAY for.

79. Senator Bob Graham said the same at the time
he said it while campaigning, and then on national TV a number of times, answering questions about his statement, which was obviously true, that his Niger uranium lie was impeachable.
