Turn Arnold's Special Election into a Recall Election

Ok, enough is enough.

Although I didn't vote for this idiot, I have watched the past 2 years unfold trying to keep an open mind. The grace period is over and now it is time to send this guy on his Hummer back to Lala land.

DU members need to start a movement to get this Rove puppet out of office. He is going to announce a Special Election tomorrow night at 5:01pm, http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2005/06/12/MNGJND7G5N1.DTL, and this could be our chance to add a Recall measure into this $80 million circus.

The Repugs pulled this together two years ago and now it is our turn. We Dems out number the Repugs 2 to 1 here and it would be easy to get enough signatures to make it a reality.

What we need is a united front of Dem leadership to make it happen not only here in CA, but national support as well from someone like Dean to keep the pressure on the Boobengraber (ala Bernie Ward). If Boxer, Feinstein and others joined the cause, it will happen.

Although this is a state issue, we all know that CA influences the rest of our divided nation. This could be a huge swing for the Dems going into the 2006 midterms if CA booted Arnold now.

Please help me with ideas and support in making this happen!

Signatures for a recall would have had to be turned in already to the Secretary of State's office, so they could be validated for a recall to be placed on the ballot in November.

Arnold is already up for re-election in '06, so let's concentrate on kicking his ass on this special election and the 3 initiatives he's pushing. With any luck at all, his pet projects will be defeated and he'll drop out of the '06 race with his tail between his legs.

Even if he doesn't, Angelides is poised to oust him.

3. A million signatures is not that many

considering the Repubs did it in 2003. Imagine Moveon.org and other well organized units such as the CTA mobilizing to get a million.

That's definitely a reality. Are you sure we missed the deadline for November on a Recall? If our Governor can call a Special Election tomorrow, then why can't we call for a Recall within a month of the announced SE?

Since we're going to spend $80 million on this premature election, why can't we add two more questions to it?

I'm in. I will do anything I can! I wish I could just "write a check" like Boobengrabber's friends but I am currently experiencing the "GREAT BUSH, ECONOMIC MIRACLE". In other words, I am unemployed.

5. Yes, I'm sure

Tomorrow is the deadline given by the SOS to actually pull the trigger on the special election. Think about it...it takes a lot of work to organize an election in a state the size of California. Just the logistics of getting all the counties aboard, people working the polls, printing, campaigning, etc, is daunting.

The ground work to get the signatures and validation for these special initiatives has been going on since last year. It takes a lot of money to get these things going. Even with all the special interest money Arnold has floated around, with paid petitioners, it was a struggle for him to get enough valid signatures for these initiatives. Try doing it on a budget of zero.

Let's concentrate on defeating these initiatives. It will mortally wound Ahnuld & the GOP politically.

6. Shelley & E-Voting

Does anyone besides me see a link between Kevin Shelley proving that E-voting wasn't secure/had integrity and him being outed.

This was followed by Arnold putting in a puppet as Secretary of State to rubberstamp any future Diebold-type electronic voting procedures.

Am I smoking it or is this a real concern come Special Election time and 2006 CA mid-term elections?

Someone out there please confirm or deny my theory/nightmare.

If they have e-voting in their county. Unlike many other states, California has no-excuse absentee ballots.

Does anyone know the current status of which E-voting company is running our elections now in CA?

10. I think there are different deadlines...

for when one has to declare that there is a special election versus deadlines for getting all signatures in for a given proposition to be in a special election. Not sure of when they are, but if the deadline was just yesterday for declaring an election, I have to believe we have at least a few weeks to get in signatures in for a recall proposition(s). We'd have to work quickly, but given the ground-swell of grass roots support now, it certainly wouldn't be impossible if we had at least 2-3 weeks. Someone should track down for sure when the last day for submitting in propositions with qualifying signatures is before writing this idea off.
