Terrific, brilliant letter to the editor in the Anchorage Daily News
The Difference Between a Dandelion and a Republican? Not Much:

There has been some discussion in the media lately about invasive species. I thought perhaps the use of an analogy would help some people realize what a serious probelm they are.

Dandelions are like fanatic Republicans. They are a noxious and invasive species. They will invade a lawn or a country for no reason, with no provocation and no exit strategy. Dandelions and Republicans are deceptive. One has a pretty yellow flower, the other practices verbal deception. (remember 'compassionate conservate') Meanwhile, they are poisoning the earth all around them. They do not believe in biodiversity or birth control. Dandelions and Republicans do not believe in the rights of others; in fact, they attempt to suppress others that are not like them.

So as you go about your daily life, every time you see a dandelion reach down and pinch its deceiving little head off and remind yourself you are doing the world a favor.

3. Me too
We go king fishing down there every summer. I've noticed the attitude. :) Do you ever wonder if there aren't more Democrats in Alaska than we're led to believe? It seems like the letters to the editor lean much more to the left, except for the usual nut-job right-wingers whose names we see there all the time. I'm sure you know the ones.

Anyway, I loved this letter, and if it doesn't have responses in the morning, I'll give it a kick for you.

4. thanks, sweetie. I worked for knowles and there are many dems
a lot of libertarians and really ticked off republicans. Did you read in the ear that someone in Juneau is going down the trails and sticking flags with Murkowski's face on it in dog poop? I laughed til I died. Hugs and thanks for the kick.

5. Hey fellow Alaskans....
The analogy was pretty damn good. I'm from southeast, Ketchikan, but i'm stuck in MO right now. I all ready hated dandelions, but now i have another reason to be ever so malioucious of them...:) I agree, most of the republicans try to force their ideology onto others, it reminds me of the Jeehovah Witness, Mormon Missionaries, they will beat and knock and beat some more on your door, and no they won't take a hint, they stay there forever trying to get you to believe in what they do.

Unfortunately the Mormons, and Jeehovah witness don't have anything on the new "age" republicans whom, if you don't agree with them you are a traitor, unpatriotic, tree hugger, hippie...the list is pretty long...:) But i think you get what im' saying. The right has spent a lot of time lately forcing what it thinks onto everyone, it especially makes me sick when Anwr got approved for drilling and such, i was pissed, that place has been protected for ever it seems, and i guess Murkowski finally has his little hooker (anwr)...he has wanted that piece of action for years....

Well, i will not ramble, nice post...:)

7. Ha.
I missed that one. Don't look at the paper much anymore. Too many right-wing columnists that make me sick to my stomach.

But the funniest thing was that a couple of weeks ago I caught four orphaned baby bunnies in my back yard, and ever since I've had to go out multiple times a day and pick dandelion greens for them. And yes -- pick the tops off the flowers because they like to eat them too. :)

First time I've ever done that in my life.
