The legacy of Emmet Till

is far greater than any President or other political leader will ever be. Durbin just gave a very poignant speech recalling the lynching of young Emmet Till and the courage of his mother who was willing to lay bare to the nation and the world the evilness of hatred. God rest his soul and forgive us as a people for allowing this hatred to be acted on without censure for so long. My heartfelt apology to all to all those who suffered and still suffer from bigotry. I promise I will continue to confront prejudice at every opportunity which presents itself.

1. Kerry just spoke about this formal apology and our national shame is

that the Senate will not record their vote, but will only give a voice vote. The bill does not have the sponsorship of all 100 Senators. Why aren't we discussing this.
