CSPAN-2 Mon eve 11:30 NY time: OBAMA speaking about lynching |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 10:30 PM by AirAmFan
Kerry just preceded him. Who else is on deck to speak? Is the vote on a lynching apology coming up tonight? Who's going to vote against it or refuse to co-sponsor? Will there be a roll call?

It would be nice if you also mentioned that Dean made statements in FULL support of the voting rights bill.

5. CSPAN-2 schedule now lists "Anti-lynching" for 215am early Tues |
|
NY time.
I could be wrong, but I guess the 1130 rebroadcast was just highlights of a more complete rebroadcast hours later.

7. Did Kerry ever speak about DSM, as promised? |
|
Edited on Mon Jun-13-05 11:25 PM by zann725
His lynching apology speech dragged on and on.
I'm curious as to the timing of this "anti-lynching" theme. Where did it suddenly come from...all of a sudden? Is this our Schiavo story for the week...to distract from DSM? Not that we shouldn't be appalled, or apologizing for several decades' old humans right abuses. But in light of CURRENT gross human rights' abuses at Gitmo and Abu Gharib, it's rather absurd...as if the Powers-That-Be no longer commit such crimes.

terrorism (she's a co-sponser of this legislation), stating that the long history of lynching was terrorism committed in our country by our own people. It is directly applicable to Gitmo and Abu-Grab. I personally think it's a smart way to reach people and make them think about how the Powers-That-Be are currently committing these crimes. It also sends a message to the oval office that the Senate finds lack of due process and torture shameful and unacceptable. And it's high time this issue was addressed by the Senate...7 presidents have asked for the Senate to pass legislation to curtail lynching when it was taking place, and through all those long years, they have not. Better late than never.
