MO GOP Spend Big, Get Lobbyist Gifts While Cutting Medicaid
According to the Missouri Office of Administration’s Division of Facilities Management, Design and Construction, Governor Blunt plans to spend about 1.8 million to renovate his mansion. How many houses could you buy with that? Recall recently how the Governor needed to kick the poor and disabled off of Medicaid in order to save money. Maybe Blunt hasn’t been asking himself, “What would Jesus do” lately.

Joplin MO Representative Steve Hunter recently accepted $971.35 in gifts from lobbyists in the month of May according to the Missouri Ethics Commission. As a result of the Medicaid cuts, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a single parent with two children can not make more than $292 a month or she would lose her Medicaid health insurance.

Representative Hunter’s received “meals, food, and beverage” with Lobbyist Steve Jackson on May 4 2005 in the amount of $331.29. Now that is a hearty dinner! How much would you be willing to bet the single mother who will lose her Medicaid (for making less than Rep. Hunter ate in one day) will pay for her dinner? Enjoy it Representative Hunter, I don’t know if I could.

Written by Seth Jackson. Unpublished but submitted to the Joplin Globe this very night.

1. Well thats just damn dandy....
Hey, I'm from Ak stuck in MO, i'm in southwest missouri, mcdonald county to be exact, its Mr. Redneck Central here, and i can't believe that this type of action is taking place but again, it figures...you see a bunch of examples of this all the time, and it plain makes me freaking sick. I live in one of the poorest counties in MO, where the main job you can get is gutting chickens for Tyson in Noel MO, or working at Walmart. Now, i'm not saying that a chicken gutter or walmart is bad, but again, those are the types of jobs that you can get around here, adn our dumb politicians wonder, why do people do meth, or sell drugs?

When you start treating the people like they are people, you will make the state of Missouri strong, and not the twisted example of hate, greed, and violater of basic ethics. And what the hell does Matt Blunt need with rennovations to the mansion? Why doens't he get a double wide trailer, like just about everyone else does in McDonald county, come on give me a break, and the Republicans call us Democratics/Liberals elitist dollar spenders...

Why don't these elected officials do something about the high prices of gas? Damn, the price of gas has effected a great deal of people in this county, my wife and i included...do something productive, or is it against their fiber to do the right thing? Oh wait, they are to busy spending tax payers money on rennovations, and taking money/gifts from lobbyists...a new world i tell you...

2. Missouri is fast moving down on any list to spend tourist $
due to their treatment of citizens. Evidently they haven't heard slavery is no longer legal.
