Survey USA polls approval ratings for all U.S. Senators
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2005/06/14/approval_ratings_released_for_all_us_senators.html

Senator with the highest approval rating? Barack Obama 72%
Senator with the lowest approval rating? John Cornyn 40%

See your senator's ratings here.
http://surveyusa.com/50StateTracking.html

For those unfortunate enough to have James Inhofe and Tom Coburn as your senators, their approval ratings are a mere 44% and 43% respectively.

2. Somehow Boxer has pretty much the same rating
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 12:15 PM by iwantmycountryback
Only 51%, which I find odd considering she got 58% of the vote. And Lautenberg of NJ is only 42%, but I don't put much stock into that, not that he's running again anyways. Also, Senator Fecal Matter (Santorum for those of you who don't know) is only at 45%. I can't fuckin wait to see Casey Jr. kick his sorry ass.

Yay! I also found this interesting: <It's particularly interesting to note that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is actually more popular among Democrats than among members of his own party.>

No president McCain I guess.

16. I know. I can't believe anyone outside of her area would vote for her.
She is apparently so incompetent it's amazing she even got elected at all. I may have to reconsider living in Florida if she gets in. Or one more hurricane - which ever comes first.

6. Moderate Republicans and liberal Democrats seem to be doing well.
It's nice to see Byrd at 63%. I think the moderate establishment Democrats who think that being wishy-washy is more electable are full of crap, and this reconfirms that impression.

9. The governors' approval ratings are even more interesting
http://surveyusa.com/50governorsrated051005.htm

The lowest is Bob Taft in Ohio at a pathetic 19 percent.

There are 23 governors below 50 percent approval, 14 of them are Republicans:

14. both of my senators
are squarely in the top 25
Byrd is at 21
and Rockefeller is at 8.

Can't say the same though about our party chairman in WV, smooching with the republican chamber of commerce to push through tort reform.
That's all our pseudo-democrat governor Joe Manchin has done since taking office...hurt working families in WV.

15. Here's a complete table of scores. Anyone have a spreadsheet?
Edited on Tue Jun-14-05 02:18 PM by IanDB1
http://surveyusa.com/100USSenatorApprovalRatings061305.htm

I would love to see the average and mean approval scores of Democrats vs Republicans.

Especially in the swing states.

In other words, which party has the higher average approval ratings?

Interesting observations:

8 out of the top 10 are Democrats.

3 out of the lowest 10 are Democrats.

And that's despite the fact that the majority of the people on the list are Republicans.

The Top 10

1 IL Obama, Barack D 72%
2 ME Collins, Susan R 71%
3 ND Conrad, Kent D 71%
4 VT Leahy, Patrick D 71%
5 ME Snowe, Olympia R 71%
6 ND Dorgan, Byron D 70%
7 HI Inouye, Daniel D 70%
8 WV Rockefeller, Jay D 70%
9 RI Reed, Jack D 69%
10 IN Bayh, Evan D 67%

The Bottom 10

90 FL Nelson, Bill D 47%
91 NH Sununu, John R 47%
92 MN Dayton, Mark D 46%
93 PA Santorum, Rick R 45%
94 OH DeWine, Mike R 44%
95 OK Inhofe, James R 44%
96 OK Coburn, Tom R 43%
97 FL Martinez, Mel R 43%
98 NC Burr, Richard R 42%
99 NJ Lautenberg, Frank D 39%
100 TX Cornyn, John R 40%

13 out of the Top 25 are Democrat
24 out of the Top 50 are Democrat

Again, this despite the Rethugnican Super-Majority.

18. My state (MO): Bond #66, (No) Talent #88 .... Talent up in 2006.
They're trying to recruit Claire McCaskill to run. McCaskill, State Auditor, lost in a close race to then-Secretary of State, "Baby Bush" Matt Blunt.

Oh, btw, Blunt was also the Co-Chairman of the Reelect Bush Campaign.

Figures, eh?

It's particularly interesting to note that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) is actually more popular among Democrats than among members of his own party.

Bad news for primary season. :)
