Judiciary GOP pulls the plug on Conyers 'forums'
Is this true?

Can someone tell what the f*uck this means?

By Albert Eisele and Jeff Dufour

If the Financial Services Committee is the best in the House when it comes to bipartisan comity, then the Judiciary Committee may well be the worst.

In December, ranking Democrat John Conyers (Mich.) began holding “forums” — gatherings with all the trappings of official hearings — after Chairman James Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) refused to hold hearings on topics Conyers requested. The forums have been held in smaller committee rooms, often with C-SPAN coverage and formal witness lists.

In a sign of how far relationships on the committee have soured, majority staff recently announced a new policy to deny any request from a committee Democrat for the use of a committee hearing room.>>.snip

4. fine, have conyers hold the forums on the steps of the capitol
the GOP wants to silence conyers? go to hell, GOP.

let's make the forums a publicity event and have conyers state in uncategoric terms that he is being denied by the GOP a place in the capitol to hold such hearing.

its past time to kick the GOP bastards right in the balls each time we get a chance.

The Washington Post and demand coverage. He said how impressive they would look marching on down to the Washington post's office. They may have to do this!! DemBloggers had those videos. These Democrats have got to start screaming so NO ONE can Ignore them!!

20. I like it!!!
You know, if they block that there is a nearby park where 1000+ people showed up to support Boxer trying to stop the electoral vote until all the physical votes had been counted and the mess in Ohio cleared up.

Big enough to have speakers and music. Let's just rally on until we are heard.

5. Ohio Republicans did the same thing to Conyers when he came to Columbus in
December to hold public hearings. The Repug majority would not let him use the Ohio Statehouse. He ended up holdong them in Columbus City Council chambers. F them, find a larger venue, hold the hearing and get press out of the fact that this is bs one party rule at it's worse. THE BUILDINGS BELONG TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE, NOT THE FASCIST NEOCONS.

8. so hold it on the capitol
its a free country. Just hold it in the middle of the national mall, right next to the Vietnam Memorial. That would be more fitting anyway. One way or another, the dirty laundry is getting aired out kiddies.

13. Nadler introduced a resolution about this today
Nadler listed every single rule that Sensenbrenner broke in Friday's hearings and requested the following:

1. that the House condemn Sensenbrenner's actions and
2. that the House grant the Dems an additional day of hearings on the Patriot Act ...

the resolution will be considered by the House within 48 hours ...

grant hearing space though.
