Food for thought regarding the Bush presidency
As if one couldn't get any more depressed, I just stumbled across this article and it totally floored me (and made me about 80 times as angry at the same time).

I think, out of everything, the Supreme Court nominations scare me the most - that and the potential to undo the FDR's New Deal. EVERYONE needs to get active for 2006. We need to take back Congress and we need to start offering the American people SOLUTIONS. Why are the Dems not creating legislation to introduce healthcare and education platforms? I know they probably won't get anywhere with the Republicans, but we need to show the people that the Democratic Party is offering solutions to the American public!

is unlikely to last for generations. They can deny peak oil, global warming, and all the other aspects of environmental degradation and they can clear cut like crazy and drill madly, but all the things they say are bullshit will happen. I hope I'm wrong, but I've heard George Carlin use the term "circling the drain."
