8. Abso-fuckin'-lutely!!! KEEP POUNDING!!!
If they think we don't care, they won't, either. I GUARANTEE YOU THIS IS TRUE.

The only reason this weasel even admits such a thing is because he, as a number-cruncher and pollster and polling analyst, has evidently found that he can't avoid it. It clearly indicates that this is a story gathering momentum. As it should.

EVERYONE KEEP WORKING, PLEASE!!!!!!! Have you called your reps today? Have you called somebody else's? Do it TOLL FREE: (877) 762 - 8762 to the Capitol Hill switchboard.

28. Write early, call often
a newspaper reporter told us all last year that if a paper receives 10 emails (or five hard copy letters) about an issue it is deemed to be "hot" and gets coverage. Don't assume that "someone else" is writing-do it now!

24. Never forget.
Video from this thread has Shill Schneider saying it's only hot because the for/against opinion polls on the Iraq War have flip-flopped. Iow, Shill and his pals will only make something an issue, or explore it's intricacies, if a plurality of Americans are "interested" in it. Hog crap.

29. From what I saw tonight
Schneider said that this story is heating up - nothing to do with the change in polls.

30. Check the video in the above post.
It's clear as a bell.

And , oh yeah, it's hot. And Shill has some splainin' to do, ergo, the "heat."

4. Hot because CNN just ran it as the top story?
I mean CNN has ignored this for months and now that Conyers is doing legwork the story makes it to MSM media? Shouldn't CNN had been on this from day one? It's hot because of the internet and one brave soul in Congress.

5. Becoming?
<sigh> 6 weeks it's been out and it's just becoming? I like how a poster in another thread described the coverage so far as telling the story about the story as a tactic to avoid actually discussing its content, the context, and the ramifications of it all. before they reported that no one seems interested. Now the story is that the story is becoming hot. How 'bout you report the story and investigate? Try not and manufacture a response Bill.

I suppose that I should just be happy that it's still being discussed. Like fake reporters/male prostitutes in the press corps will this just fizzle out and die? I hope not.

6. I heard that! He also said
that the question is whether Bush and Blair went to the UN to try to avoid war, or whether they went to the UN in order to justify war.

He said this now has legs because only 42% of the people believe that going to war in Iraq was the right thing to do. So, he just publically admitted the whoredom of the news media.

go to the u.n. to avoid the war or to justify it?"

he said that in response to question from suzanne malveaux: what makes this document important
or something like that

but i was shocked that bill reported. no editorializing or dismissing it
first time i have to say thank you to AEIs bill schneider!

and this wknd howard kurtz did a very fair segment with katrina vanden heuvel about press coverage (lack thereof)
again. reporting. and not just dismissing what she was saying

whats going on here?

Here is my standard letter to the Media:

Dear Sir/Madam:

As you know, on May 1 of this year a document now commonly referred to as “|The Downing Street Memo” was released into the British Press. This document raises serious question about how the administration was handling intelligence related to Iraq and appears to suggest that the Bush Administration had already decided on war when publicly it was claiming that no such decision had been made. Now further documents have been released in the British media which cast even further doubts.

These documents and other documents suggest that the Bush administration was determined to “fix intelligence” around a predetermined policy. Some of these documents make it clear that the administration had no credible plan for dealing with the post-war occupation.

It is most disturbing that there has been a virtual media blackout regarding “The Downing Street Minutes” and other disturbing documents.

Even more disturbing is the absence in the America media of any credible in-depth follow-up discussion or coverage regarding strong, credible and independent evidence that the Bush Administration intentionally mislead the U.S. Congress, the media and the American people.

I do hope you will accept the responsibility to address this issue and provide serious investigative journalism into this matter.

Furthermore, on today--June 16, 2005, Rep. John Conyers, Jr., ranking minority member of the House Judiciary Committee, and other House members will hold a hearing to consider testimony concerning the Downing Street minutes and questions of possible fixing of prewar intelligence. I do hope you will be giving full coverage to these events.

Sincerely,
