I'm thinking the US must destroy Kofi Annon's rep. because he |

could probably hang Bush with what he knows. He has already said the war was illegal. They are trying to silence him with the continual charges of Oil for Food scandals. What do you guys think?

1. Yup. I've thought this for months. Especially after he kept |

bringing up those photos of prisoners being 'detained' at Abu Grab.

2. But Kofi has the support of every other UN nation... |
|
The U.S. wants to control the UN - they've proposed to withhold funding if the UN doesn't make "reforms." They want to make sure that the next time they want to shove a war resolution down people's throats, no UN member will reject it.

3. If they dis Kofi and the U.N., they cast doubt on the "peace" process... |

... and lend legitimacy to their war. That's their thought, anyway.
Specifically, they want to show that Saddam was benefitting from (scamming) the oil-for-food program to covertly fund his WMD programs.
Problem was, he HAD to WMD programs! No matter what you can show about the U.N., THEY were RIGHT about Iraq and you, Bush, were WRONG!
This just shows how desperate the neocons are, how much they're backpedalling. Try to bring up anything, to muddle the issue. It's just lagniappe for them to brand Annan in the process. It also fits their M.O. of ruthless retaliation just for spite.

4. If it wasn't Kofi, It'd be whomever is in charge. |

of the UN.
The UN remains the ONLY viable theater in which the rest of the world could censure or even smack down the US for it's activities in Iraq and it's generally abysmal behavior in the Mid-East in total.
Whose going to militarily smack us? Sanctions and such are the only tool the rest of the world has to curb US aggression.
I hope I do not live to see the day my country does something as stupid as threaten military action for not buying enough US products or not letting the US business do as they wish (which they do now), but I fear that it will come to this. Sell us oil or die, buy or cars/movies/etc or burn.
The PNAC and US conservative movement want to totally remove ANY podium for criticism of the US actions, albeit for differing reasons.
PNAC - it's the control, baby Conservatives - it's the one world anti-Christ government, baby Jesus be praised.
Bolton stated the Bush goal, firm and unwaiverable, there is no UN without the US pulling it's strings.

5. One of top NeoCon priorities - kill the UN - usual pattern, slime |
|
the person in charge, whirl into a tizzy over some teacup tempest... Declare everyone connected with it (the UN, the Democrat party, CBS) to be tainted and immoral... Then declare their irrelevance...
