Conyers letter now has 540,000 signatures and counting!!!
Postin in Latest because the largest count I saw was 300,000 and that was showing for Move On. I don't know if these numbers are exclusive of each other - meaning 840,000 in total or if Move On forwarded all those 300,000 to Conyers so it's included in his count.

Per John's blog:

Downing Street Minutes Momentum Growing Exponentially
We're now 540,000 and counting

The DSM story is growing bigger and bigger every day.

I start with the fact that we are now over 540,000 signatures from Americans demanding a response from the Administration to the charges set forth in the DSM. I will deliver these to the White House on Thursday.

We are now at over 100 signatures from Democratic Members and growing too.

We also have the hearing on Thursday. I hope to give you the precise time and location, and viewing and audio information tomorrow, so we can get as many people as possible at the hearing in person or listening and watching with us.

The MSM finally is getting it. The Washington Post (registration required) had an excellent front page story on Sunday. Scripps Howard News service has a good follow up today. I am getting numerous radio, tv and newspaper inquiries on a daily basis.

None of this would be possible without your help and the help of the blogsophere. So thank you and stay tuned.

7. I'll ask JC on his blog. It's just that there are only 44 DEMs in Senate.
I'm not sure what the mix is for the House, but even if they aren't signing this letter, there are Republicans speaking out against the illegal war in Iraq because of the publicity DSM is finally getting.

4. They are coming around.
People all over the country have been telling the newspapers they don't wan't to renew their subscriptions because of FAUX news coverage and many have listened.

I still get a sense that there is right wing bias and left bias showing up here and there with a little bit of just the facts showing up, but things are moving forward. Our local STRIB has a full time Reader's Rep just to handle this stuff. Of course Minneapolis/St Paul was the first in the Nation after NYT to publish the Downing Street Memo (after 30 days).

CNN looked at its market share and reputation after Reese Schoenfeld stuck his foot in his mouth** and Ted Turner decided to do something about it. Know how CNN international had the full story and US CNN got crickets? Well, now US CNN is getting at least a few hours of international coverage. It may not be the full monty, but we're getting there.

** (May 16 - The Big Show with John Gibson) when he said it was the media's responsibility to lie for the Government in times of war.

5. One main reason the MSM hasn't been covering the DSM...
is that AP, per their own admission, "dropped the ball." Make no mistake most of these so called "new organizations" simply take what's on the wire and repackage it.

8. Something else I notice about AP is a definate red cover up mo...
Whenever they have to report about Republican wrongs they include 3 DEMS and call them by party and try to make whatever they did worse than the rethug and then not mention the party affiliation of the rethug.

There was an AP repost in the STRIB which I need to write to them about because it followed this pattern. Even though there were like 23 Republicans, 19 DEMS and 1 Indepenedent that had missed the 30 reporting period for their personal business trip expenses, they put in 2 pictures of DEMS at the top, listed them and 1 other DEM in the lead sentence, made the party affiliation for the DEMS only and then mentioned fewer Republicans even though the following paragraph indicates there were more Republicans with this problem. Facts there, skew obvious.

So I think I need to watch AP and give them Hell for their slant. I've done some at our STRIB, I lashed out at CNN for Reese Schoenfeld's "it's the media's responsibility to lie for the government in times of war." And some dude who threatened to kill Michael Moore on National Radio.

Now it's AP's turn in the hotseat. Don'cha think?

11. Wonderful -- and horrible
It pisses me off that WE the People have to lobby so hard to get the MSM to pay attention. It pisses me off that WE the People have to do their damn jobs. It pisses me off that somebody like John Conyers (bless him) has to corral the troops in order to get this done -- taking time from his other work to (all together now) do the media's job.

And, need I remind anyone -- we've still got a long, long, long way to go on this. But it's a start.
