Which Representative is best known outside his Orlando district as the lawmaker behind the "cheeseburger bill" legislation in 2004 intended to block civil lawsuits against food manufacturers or vendors holding them responsible for an individual's weight gain, obesity or weight-related health problem? The case that inspired the bill, a suit against McDonald's by a customer who blamed his weight gain on the company's products, was grist for talk shows and political satires for weeks. The bill passed in the House but died in the Senate.
