I've Never Endorsed Dean, But It's Unfair!
It seems unfair that the media, whatever their motivation, could kill a candidate over some manufactured reason. He's not fit to be president because he got excited? That doesn't make sense.

4. It is not off topic, he DID lose Iowa before the so-called "scream"
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 01:27 AM by LibertyChick
There was no guarantee that any of them would win NH, either.

7. What proof do you have?
He was getting good press, he was the frontrunner, and then something happened.

13. So who made you type it?

What world am I living in? What "Dean tapes" are you talking about?

Maybe Dr. Dean needs to temper what he says if all these things are going to be used against him?

What world are YOU living in?

It's a media world, and the media loves a spectacle, which Dean handed to them, gift wrapped on a silver platter.

For him to complain now, or in the past, is a bit silly.

He should have known that politics is a dirty business, and behaved accordingly. The Dean campaign loved to stress its use of the Internet-did they not know that that could also be placed on the Internet and repeated zillions of times?

Is there no accountability for what happened to Dean from Dean?

Of course not.

6. Come on, it was a spectacle
Dean did it just like every other thing he has done to himself. Just like he started whining today about "dirty tricks" at the Iowa caucuses. He causes his own problems and there's no "unfair" about it.

I like your guy too. I like all the Dems. Two I like less, but I still like them, I prefer them to the status quo.

9. In case you hadn't noticed, Dean is still in this race
Edited on Sun Jan-25-04 01:34 AM by fabius
We really must expect our candidates to be "Gored" by the press. Good thing IMHO that we've still got 4-5 candidates with reasonable expectations.

I think Dean's come back creditably and handled the thing well. If the voters thing he's been hurt too bad by this thing, they won't vote for him.

If it doesn't matter, they will vote for him. We'll find out. I myself trust the Democratic voters (and independent, where applicable) to pick the strongest candidate to face Bush.

I'm voting for Dean. But I'm not whining about his press treatment (not yet!)

But, if they slam your candidate unfairly, send letters and emails, to these press hounds and hold them accountable!

16. Unfortunate, overblown, yeah. Unfair? hmm...
The Scream speech didn't go over well on tv, I didn't care for the tone. Even if I'd been there in the hall, him taking up all the oxygen like that, I'd have scrambled for the fire exit.
It seemed like a major disconnect there, way too much enthusiasm for such a dreadful disappointment. The mike was on, Governor. The whole country was listening, not just the troops.
It recalls what Nixon said: I gave them a sword.
I hope his candidacy recovers, he deserves better and he has a message to bring to the party that should not be shuffled aside.
