Subtle political commentary on Playhouse Disney?
I'm sitting here with my 17 month old daughter who is watching Playhouse Disney on TV. They just showed a music video by They Might Be Giants from their "Here Come the ABCs" kids CD. The song they played was called "D and W". (Hmmm...could it be Democrats and Bush?) Has anyone else seen this?

When they sing about D the music is sombre and the video shows Captain D on a ship, then it crashes into a rock and sinks. (The last election, maybe?)

Then they start to sing about 'W'. It goes into big fanfare and the lyrics are something like:

"And then there's W! Here comes W! It's double wide, it cannot hide it's pride...

It thinks its King, it's all time favorite thing is W!"

In the video they show the letter 'W' walking down a path, knocking down pillars in its path, then it's on a pedistal wearing a crown and flowers are being thrown at him. (W's delusional mind about Iraq, perhaps??!!)

Then the letter "D" says: W, you think you're so great.
W replies: Well, I AM pretty big.
Then D says: Yeah, you're OK, you're just not as great as you think you are...

Check out the video - http://www.giantkid.net/splash.htm
(You'll have to select "Watch Videos", then the "D & W" video.)

Maybe I'm too much of a political junkie, but I couldn't help but make the connection right away. They Might Be Giants are from Canada, so who knows. Considering the evangelicals have a "Boycott Disney" campaign, I wouldn't be surprised with a slight 'dig'.

1. Wouldn't surprise me
from the company that sunk the "Ellen Degeneres show" because she was a lesbian - not because the show wasn't that funny . . .

3. And the company that shunned Fahrenheit 9/11...
and missed out on its $140 million gross.
