Does George Bush think he is above the law ?
And do other people think he is above the law? Does the Congress and Senate think he is above the law? If not, then why they choose to coverup and ignore the questions that are being asked of this President? If he has nothing to hide, let him answer to the American people. Let him answer to the families that have lost loved ones in Iraq. Did he really think Saddam had WMDs or was his scheme to deceive Congress and the American people to take us to war? If the latter is true, we have a very serious matter to deal with as a nation.

2. Worse, he thinks he IS the law
because he is where he is because he was appointed by god. Therefore, anything he does is blessed and the laws of man are irrelevant.

Calvinism always put rich men above the laws of god and man because it stated that riches were a sign of approval by god. If you were poor, it was because god cursed you or you weren't praying correctly, or something else that was all your fault.

Bush is not a Christian but he IS a staunch Calvinist.

5. If Bush gave the law any thought, he'd probably conclude he is above it.
But he doesn't, so there you go.

8. I'd have to think that Bush THINKS first.
He's not above the law, but I think he and his cronies think they are.

9. Cover up!
We need to say cover up in every post we can. In every letter we write and get the Democrats on the hill to do the same. junior refuses to hand over the documents on Bolton because it will prove DSM as correct. Pass it on.

The White House is in denial and in cover up mode.

12. He THINKS he is - God's got his back!
In his twisted little mind I'm sure he thinks nothing can touch him. It's how he's lived his whole life; has always had people get him out of his messes. I think he's in for a rude awakening.

15. Is this a trick question?
* knows that laws are for mere mortals, not those ruling by divine right, such as himself.

17. Of course, when has "the law"
or anything else held him accountable for his actions?

But his hubris will bring the house of cards down..so laugh it up, monkeyboy.

18. Of course. He's aristocracy. He's known that all his life.
The Congress is controlled by the Republican power, and they are a bunch of conservatives: maintaining power is more important than anything. They will only break ranks in the face of absolute certain catastrophe. Cowed by the draconian techniques meted out to anyone who doesn't toe the line, the media is compliant and society itself docile.

Sadly, this is a HUGE conspiracy. Far too many legislators know full well that the tax codes are designed to benefit the wealthy and suck the life out of workers. Far too many know that the war was predetermined, based upon well-known distortions and created for political leverage and personal greed. So many are a part of it that they can't speak up. They're looking over their shoulders, well aware of their culpability, and in constant fear of the retribution of the oligarchs they've abetted should they break ranks.

It's not so much a conspiracy of a hushed society meeting in dark garrets as it's one of a group willingness to not talk about the elephant in the room. It's the kind of group cowardice that tolerates and promotes racism and cronyism with the polite smile of the socially acceptable.

He is a nobody. He is the most powerful nobody since Louis the Sixteenth, and as most nobodies tend to be, he is filled with hatred and fear of being found out. Gnawing within is the terror that he just doesn't cut it as a human being, because he knows it's true. To compensate, he puffs up with the certainty of cocksure hatred, and makes sure nobody who slights him is allowed to exist.

He is the the embodiment of vicious, selfish retaliation, and the ones who'll experience his wrath the most are those who want to point these traits out to others. We are a nation in fear. In this, at least, he has a sense of thematic integrity: all must bend to his will. As one of his mob once said, it's his world and we are his oyster.

23. I seem to recall him saying he'd like to be a dictator
"If this were a dictatorship, it'd be a heck of a lot easier, just so long as I'm the dictator." —President-elect George W. Bush, at a photo-op with congressional leaders during his first trip to Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C., Dec. 19, 2000
