2. John Dean said (long time ago) this WH moved in and pulled down the shades
and maintains unbelievable secrecy.

Trouble is, those shades and their habit of ignoring that which they dislike, will come back to bite their combined evil butts clean off. And we will witness it.

4. A reply give it credibility.
As it stands it's just some Dems rehashing old news.

Has Conyers reached the WH yet? I hope he shoves them up *'s behind.

8. Well...
"Go figure.. Ignore over ½ MILLION Americans."

...over 59 million Americans voted for Kerry. Why wouldn't the administration just assume that the half a million that signed this petition were made up of voters who already cast ballots against Bush. This administration received over 62 million votes, those are the only people Bush cares about.

The administration is never going to take these sorts of petitions seriously. Quite frankly, you shouldn't really expect them to. You don't actually believe that whatever Democrat wins the White House in 08' is going give a rats ass about petitions gathered by rightwing politicians and groups do you?

These petitions are publicity stunts. That's it. If they get media attention and put the Bush administration on the defensive - they are worth it. If they are not likely to get much attention - they become a waste of time.

10. What about it?
"What about the 'focus group' before the Iraq war?"

Focus groups are used to determine what langauge to use to sell a policy. Republicans and Democrats use them.

This has nothing to do with why Bush will blow off these types of petitions. First, ask the average American on the street what the DSM is and they won't have the slightest effing clue. Everyone is aware that people whom are interested in signing this type of petition, attending Conyers forum and/or the protests that go with it, and going to anti-war rallies are political partisans that wouldn't be voting for Bush anyway.

Democrats know this too. Every Democrat knows that anyone howling about Durbin's comments in regards to Gitmo or signing petitions asking him to apologize, is already a political partisan who would never vote for Durbin in the first place.

Both Republicans and Democrats flat out ingore these types of petitions.

16. the poster is referring to a bush remark
I believe it was over a million marching in the streets and bush referred to them as a "focus group."

You miss the point of the petition. Yes, it is a sign of support from the people but in addition to that, many of those 560,000 people sent e-mails to others, thus generating conversation and awareness of DSM. It's a way of igniting the grassroots.

I guess you would have Conyers march to the WH with nothing in his hands. Hey that will knock 'em dead. Please impress us with some more of your clever strategies.

12. Does Dean, Kerry, Hillary, Obama, etc plan on replying to it??
I'd like to know what our "Big Gun" DEMs have said about it today.

I can understand Bush/media's silence- but where are out quotable, well-known DEMs???

What have they said???

What is THEIR response to this years most important news story?

13. As a constituent of Hillary and Schumer's
I wrote them about the DSM yesterday late afternoon. I received a nice auto response from Hillary and nothing yet from Schumer (not that I really expect to since I rarely get a response from him when I write and always have from Hillary, it just sometimes takes a bit of time.) Anyway, if I hear back from either of them about the DSM I'll post it in this area of DU if someone else doesn't do so first.

And another 30 or 40 "Fair and Balanced" radio and TV hosts. Bush doesn't ever have to say anything, same as the rest of his life, someone else always does the heavy lifting.
