The Problem with the Downing Street Memos |
|
My concern is that some of congress' biggest war mongers will try to use them for cover when it was obvious to anyone paying attention that the war was the wrong thing to do, that there were likely no WMD, that it would not be short or bloodless, that there would be no roses thrown at people's feet. I'd like to see everyone who supported going to war face the voters and try to explain themselves without the cover or these memos.

2. You mean they say, "You should've stopped us, it's your fault?" |

One of my favorite movie lines is Animal House, where Flounder is crying because the house has wrecked his brother's care, and one cheerfully claps him on the back and says, "You fucked up! You trusted us!"

they will beat their chests and cry about how they were tricked by the administration - in my opinion, no one was tricked. Everything in the Downing Street Memos was out there in one form or another before a single US boot or bombshell hit the ground in Iraq.
