554,000+
Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 06:21 PM by yebrent
554,000+ signatures on Conyers' letter on the DSM. 554,000 is a very big number.

Let's see...

If 554,000 people gave up one meal at an inexpensive restaurant a month ($10) and instead donated that money to the DNC's 50 state strategy that would be $5,540,000 a month towards building the state parties.

That is $66,480,000 a year if everyone who took the time to sign the letter were to just give up one inexpensive meal a month. Not much to ask IMO.

If everyone gave up two meals a month, we could add $11,080,000 a month or $132,960,000 a year to the DNC war chest, far out-pacing the Republican donations.

Small donations do matter folks!!

On edit: Make that a chain restaurant. Many independent restaurants can be very progressive and need our support too.

3. I'm donating $25 a month
We definitely need to pony up.

Another way of looking at it is if you walk to the grocery store or video store instead of driving - save money - donate to DNC and get exercise, reduce pollution and congestion all in one package.

4. But , in doing so, wouldn't we be sending $$$....
to a lot of people who: 1. favor the war and/or 2. won't talk about the DSM?

5. This is for grassroots building.
I think the grassroots of the Democratic party would be fully behind anything that can help impeach this administration. The 554,000+ people who signed the memo are the grassroots and currently we have a very weak infrastructure in many states. Rebuilding this infrastructure is critical to a long term Democratic Party majority. Plus, I believe Dean that some of this money will be used in 2006 to ensure that every vote is counted.
