Trent Lott has that "insurgents in final throes" meme going on Hardball
Okay, I'm a masochist, I'm watching the Tweety show with Trent Lott, but its really funny watching him talk about how we are 'winning the war' and the insurgents are in their 'final throes'(tm)

What a wanker

1. "Withdrawal" is being discussed on the political pornography shows
I find that amazing.

2. 'final throes' implies we have them pinned down to me - but isn't it
true we barely have the two mile strip to the Baghdad airport secured? I read a post last week saying we're the most powerful military on earth and we can't secure those two miles.

4. The road from Baghdad to the airport is supposedly one of the most
dangerous six miles in IraqNam.

I don't think we control squat.

I think our troops are hunkered down in bunkers and only venture out to get shot at.

But that's just me.

3. And of course, Tweety doesn't come back with the obvious followup:
"What makes you think that the insurgency is on the wane? Any data to support that assertion?"

6. Yes, who was that FINE (intelligent, savvy) WH reporter that challenged
Snotty Scottie today?

He kept asking (and re-asking!) something like the following "How do you determine that this is in the final throes? What is indicating that conclusion?"

I worry that they may confiscate his WH press pass today and lock the doors from him for the duration. Still, in the fine tradition of Helen Thomas, he should be proud.

13. I think that was Terry Moran of ABC
When he asked Snottie how long a "last throe" could be expected to last, Snottie abruptly called on someone else for a question.

Edited on Thu Jun-16-05 06:21 PM by Daphne08
Chris Matthews cut off Sen. Feingold when Feingold mentioned 'secret' about going to war? (I don't really know if I heard that or not.)

Also, I just noticed their sponsor... Exxon!

8. Don't you just loathe tweety shutting off Feingold so Lott could riff ?
Then he tried to compare Feingold's timetable with Nixon and Vietnam...

Hey, Feingold should have replied, this IS becoming Iraq-Nam, isn't it ?

And Cheney is into this disinformation campaign up to his pacemaker.

11. Its refreshing that they are accidentally comparing Bush's War
to Viet Nam.

But 'trying not to make the same mistakes'....bwahahahaha, the fucking mistake was going in there to begin with.

wankers.

12. Sen McCains b.s. about us in Iraq for what '10, 20 yrs, that's not so bad'
As quoted in Bob Herbert's 'Heads in the sand' NYT article.

"When asked this week on CNN how long the U.S. military is likely to remain in Iraq, Senator John McCain replied "probably" 10 or 20 years. "That's not so bad," he said..."

14. Unfortunately this is an old story, somebody needs to ask Mr. McCain
how long we will be in Iraq at this point of time.
