Dems cheer House poll
By Josephine Hearn

Recent Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) polling shows that seven Republican members would be easily defeated if their reelection took place today, the committee’s chairman told House Democrats yesterday at a closed-door meeting.

While Rep. Rahm Emanuel (Ill.) did not name the members, who are from districts “around the country,” he said all polled at 43 percent or less when voters were asked if they would vote today to reelect their congressional representative, sources at the meeting told The Hill.

Emanuel said three of the Republicans polled below 40 percent, including one, from a Western state, at 32 percent and another, a Californian, at 34 percent. The DCCC has targeted three California members: Reps. David Dreier, Richard Pombo and Randy “Duke” Cunningham.

The numbers created a palpable buzz in the room, said one attendee, as the assembled Democrats mulled the prospect of unseating a handful of vulnerable Republicans. Democrats have seized on recent nationwide polls showing high disapproval ratings for Congress and the president.

5. You'll have to hope the impeachment doesn't fail before then
because if it's brought now, it will fail. The GOP is so corrupt it will never vote against one of their own in order to save the country.

If it fails now, it won't be brought up in 2007.

2. Would love to see those three go!
Reps. David Dreier, Richard Pombo and Randy “Duke” Cunningham.

Barbara Lee is my Rep....and she definitely speaks for me.

If we can win back the house in 2006....it's bu-bye Bush!

Lordie....let me pray!

10. I had looked at Cunninghams seat
As a potential marginal, so I'm glad the DCCC is targeting the Republicans in marginal seats, that never face opposition.

13. We were just having some good laughs at our Dem meeting tonight!

About all of the recent events for Cunningham, who's been our notorious congress critter! You can bet that in the coming weeks we're going to be out heavily campaigning for Francine Busby against him, along with Donna Frye for the mayoral election next month!

If Tom Delay has to show his support for Cunningham, that's an act of desperation that won't wring well with moderate voters that don't have any love for Texans here!

Gawd I'd love to see our sea of Republican leaders become Democrats (and perhaps all women at that too!)!

1. New democratic mayor here!
2. Recall Arnold or at least get rid of him for governor by 2006 election...
3. Get rid of Randy Duke Cunningham and put in Francine Busby instead!
4. Keep Feinstein or another Dem as Senator!
5. IMPEACH BUSH AND CHENEY before 2008 and have Nancy Pelosi in as president then!

14. I understand the political reality of the situation, but just once I'd
love to see the Democrats go hard after a Repub who seems like a lock. My rep doesn't even bother to campaign anymore. Just throws up a few street corner signs ten days or so before the election. I would so love to see the democrats organize and fund the crap out of a challenge that would blow him off the map.

As I said, I understand the reality, but a girl can dream.
