So W is leaving the Soc.Sec. "barnstorming tour" for the Iraq war tour?
Edited on Fri Jun-17-05 08:50 AM by underpants
This is what I hear this morning. Tim Russert was on Today actually saying "We need to do this" - you would think he was Scotty "Little boots" McLellan's field guy.

So the "60 day 60 city" tour (which is in what it's third month and 30th city) is being abandoned for Bush trying to resell the Iraq war to the 'Murkan people.

We now have absolute incontrovertible smoking gun proof that W is a figurehead and a puppet who does nothing but raise money and act as spokesman for whatever "product" li(n)e they are selling now. Or at least the latest manifestation of their story on their "product".

1. Good!
We all know how well the SS tour worked out. By the time he gets done pimping his war, support levels should level out somewhere around, oh, 20% or so.

Bring it on, Chimp!

5. LOL! That was my response.
But I'm puzzled. The PNAC cabal has been pretty politically savvy in the past. This seems like a really really stupid idea. It's going to keep the topic at the forefront which provides more fertile ground for pre-war intelligence debate. Works for me, but I would think they'd be trying to talk about every subject but this one.

10. I'd disagree that they have been politically savvy
They just have control of the media and have been able to push their message as being the 'norm'. While they still have control of the media they are slowly losing their grip.
Putting Chimpy out to sell his bad war, I think, may help to highlight the DSM and the charges that Chimpy was taking this country into this war no matter what.

12. You think controlling the media and being able to
push their message isn't an example of political savvy? My point is we are seeing signs that they are losing exactly that control.

3. And he's starting in BLUE country
Although he is going to a right-wing haven.

The speech today in Maple Grove (MN) was originally supposed to be about Medicare but it looks like that may be an afterthought. So we should see a bunch of "invitation only" elderly people being told that the war is hard work but it's going well. I'm sure they'll cheer heartily.

7. Some Enterprising DU'er
needs to come up with a satirical concert T-shirt.

You know, have a nose-picking picture of * on the front with a big red down arrow. On the back accross the top have "The Social Security/Iraq War LollaBamboozle Tour". Then list the venues, just like on a concert shirt and list the declining poll numbers after each venue.

I envision something like this.

Feb23 - Cleveland, Oh - Approval Rating 50%
Feb25 - Cincinnati, Oh - Approval Rating 48%
Mar1 - Des Moines, IA - Approval Rating 46%
Mar3 - Chicago, Il - Approval Rating 43%

AND ON AND ON

14. This is Off-Point, but One of the Greatest T-Shirts I ever saw
Was at the local Greek Church. It was the "Orthodox Patriarchal Monarch Tour".

Had this great picture of the long haired, bearded Patriarch of the Greek Orthodox Church on the front, and on the back it had all the venues listed, just like a concert T-shirt.

If you looked at it quickly, it looked like a Grateful Dead Shirt with Jerry Garcia on the front.

9. Two propoganda tours in one!
He'll take the opportunity to talk about both, I think. Sheeple don't care what he says, just that he shows up and pounds the podium.

At least he might save the taxpayers some money by bombing on both subjects at the same time.

W's tours are going about as well as their's was. W will soon be relegated to Air Force bases too.
