Suicide Attack?
What if a few congressional dems who weren't planning to seek re-election next year anyway (but hadn't announced yet) had a press conference, apologized to the American People for being mislead into war, for not asking more questions etc. and then resigned. Where would that leave the Bush Admin?

4. So you try to pick people from states with D governors
who would appoint new D incumbents to fill the vacancies. This would also give the new D congresspeople a leg up on getting re-elected next year.

5. Senators are usually appointed...
...and reps replaced by special elections.

6. R's filling the seats
That's where!! illegally most likely....by the way, haven't you come to the conclusion yet, that they control the voting machines? (as Stalin said, it isn't the voters who determine the winner, it's the ones counting the votes) why would we want to give them even more of a majority control of all branches of this gov't, under the circumstances? IF we don't take some positive and agressive steps to take this country back, from the edge of madness and soon...well, guess I don't need to add any thoughts to that..but having a bunch of Dems resign, doesn't sound like such a good plan to me..especially considering the mess we are already in..
