Being Republican means never having to say you're sorry.
Another non -apologetic for the Shaivo affair.

Santorum: No regrets on Schiavo

The senator had backed her parents. "I stood up for what I believed was right," he told reporters.

HARRISBURG - U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum (R., Pa.) said yesterday that he had no second thoughts about his efforts to help the parents of Terri Schiavo in their drawn-out battle with her husband over whether to remove her feeding tube.

"No, no. I don't have any regrets at all that I stood up for what I believed was right in defending a disabled person from being executed," Santorum said at a briefing that he initiated with reporters who cover state government.

And you know? I doubt this will hurt him come 2006.

1. Great thread title. And so true....
Meanwhile, Santorum needs some serious ass kicking.

3. You've got that point down perfectly.
Never say you're sorry, never admit defeat. I swear to god these people would run over a child in the streets and then blame the parents.

7. Thank you!
It's fairly easy to understand a party that attempts to intellectualize fear and greed.

9. That would require admitting to a mistake
And since everything that Republicans do is in furtherance of politics and self-aggrandizement, if they get their names in the paper or their simpering mugs on the teevee, then they did the right thing. You can say they were playing politics, giving false hope to desperate people, exploiting a tragic situation for their own personal political advancement, and none of these things bother them in the least.

Of course they were pandering to and exploiting people; it's what they do. This is not about principles or compassion, it's about scoring political points, and their base of hypocrites, graspers, and holier-than-thous loves them for it.

What dismays me is that so many people, who know better in their hearts, sign on to this mean-spirited agenda.

10. OK: "I stood up for what I believed was right:..past tense...Hmmm...
This shows me what kind of true fool Santorum is. If he really believed the Schiavo issue was worth fighting for, he'd still be standing for what he believes is right. As usual...Santorum is making a fool of himself. Typical RW garbage from a piece of crap. Santorum should keep talking, like bush, when he opens his mouth, people realize he truly is an idiot....:)
