check our this true movie about the violent and crazy Fundy's

http://www.beholder.com/the_story.htm

It is a low budget film and it is based on a true story. I've snipped out most of the review but the story included blackmail of the town's prosecutor and , of course, exposure of his prostitution habits and the wacko religious group that ruined this families business - and how they got their revenge. :woohoo:

Heart of the Beholder
LOGLINE: Rocky versus the Religious Right

Synopsis
(Based on a true story. Names have been changed)

Mike and Diane Howard …dreams of raising a family and starting a business of their own. They opened the first videocassette rental store in St. Louis in 1981.

The Howards were visited many times by a group of religious people called the Citizens For Decency. The CFD insisted the Howards remove movies from their stores that they felt were "...obscene or a detriment to the community and its children." Films such as Taxi Driver, Agnes of God, Blazing Saddles, Animal House, Mr. Mom, and many more were targeted. The CFD also asked for the removal of the movie Splash, claiming the movie promoted sex with animals (bestiality) because Tom Hanks makes love to a mermaid.

2. Man, fundies are SICK!
from the review:

When Martin Scorsese's controversial film, The Last Temptation of Christ, was released on video, the Howards' were the only video stores in St. Louis unafraid to offer the film for rent. The CFD declared war with pickets and boycotts. They harassed the Howards and their employees, vandalizing stores and cars. The situation worsened when the couple received death threats to their little daughter saying she would be "... sent back to God to be reborn to parents who worship the Lord."

3. Yup
Family values at work here. Kill a kid and hope for godless reincarnation. And fundies wonder why normal people think of them as crazy cult members.

4. I think I'm going to call my local Blockbuster and ask them if
they will bring it into the store so I can rent it.

6. It's an interesting movie
thought provoking and well acted. I never understood the fundie's hatred of it, though. It shows Christ's sacrifice not only in the pain that he suffered, but the sacrifice of a real future with wive(s) and children. The devil comes and shows him a vision of what COULD be if he would only save himself, and he turns away from the temptation to fulfill his destiny. I'm an agnostic, but I found it fairly moving.

5. That quote caught my eye as well...
"sent back to God to be reborn to parents who worship the Lord."

So, they believe good Christians get REINCARNATED?
