Poll question: Is It Time to Boycott the Washington Post for DSM lies?
Representative Conyers has pointed out in his scathing letter to the Post that a journalist there has lied. It may be time to put some pressure on the Washington Post to stop lying about DSM. As a very small step in this effort, it would seem reasonable to me personally to ask DSM activists to boycott the Post until they retract the article that they wrote which contained at least two blatant lies.

Here is the Washington Post article:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/06/16/AR2005061601570.html

Here is Conyers' letter to the Post:
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Congressman_Conyers_hammers_the_Washington_Posts_D_0617.html

Here is Conyers' mention of lie#1:
"Milbank implies that one of the obstacles the Members in the meeting have is that 'only one' member has mentioned the Downing Street Minutes on the floor of either the House or Senate. This is not only incorrect but misleading. In fact, just yesterday, the Senate Democratic Leader, Harry Reid, mentioned it on the Senate floor. Senator Boxer talked at some length about it at the recent confirmation hearing for the Ambassador to Iraq. The House Democratic Leader, Nancy Pelosi, recently signed on to my letter, along with 121 other Democrats asking for answers about the memo."

Here is Conyers' mention of lie#2:
"To administer his coup-de-grace, Milbank literally makes up another cheap shot that I 'was having so much fun that {I} ignored aides' entreaties to end the session.' This did not occur. None of my aides offered entreaties to end the session and I have no idea where Milbank gets that information."

2. What have they done for me lately?
Not much. Watergate was their shining moment and it's been all downhill from there.

4. Good Point.
The Washington Post Company owns Newsweek and you forgot about the Newsweek Quran flughing fiasco. That was good for a laugh, wasn't it?

5. You could be right.
I found the first article by Millbank (before the DSM hearing) where he called DSM activists "wing nuts" almost charismatic.

I found the second article very evil.

So, between the two articles...charismatic + evil.

Yes, in league with the one who shall not be named...no doubt.

11. You're welcome.
I don't really know too much about the site. I found it from googling Milbank's name.

7. Here's a worse idea
Find Dana Millbank's email address. Then, sign him up for all the mailing lists and spamminators on the Internet.

{Disclaimer: I would never do that or condone that.}

10. I'm currently boycotting all of the corporate media, including the WP.
I didn't start doing it at age 7 though, so I wasn't able to answer your poll.:D

12. That's okay.
You may still want to send the Ombudsman a letter/email and tell him that articles like Milbank's are the reason you do not read their newspaper.

13. No, its time to pound them with letters and emails
a boycott acomplishes nothing since most of us read it for free on the web anyway...

14. Maybe.
But if you don't threaten corporate media with something, will they listen?

After FAIR made it a point to make an action item on Milbank calling DSM activists "wing nuts," the ombudsman put out a story in the Post, too. Basically, he defended Milbank.

So emails and letters from thousands by themselves do not do the job completely. Something has to back up the emails.
