Contacted my local party chair about running for State Senate in '06
DUers convinced me to do it. I was on the fence about it until I posted this the other day. Now, I'm going back home and going to give it a shot. God willing. He's sending me information on both the Senate and Representative seats. Good thing is both of them opened up due to term limits and it's a Democrat safe district. Got a year and a half to get the job done.

2. Good for you!
See if there's a Democratic House and/or Senate Campaign Caucus in your state.

Here we have committees in both bodies that work with potential candidates. Seek out these people. I assume your local chair would know but go to your state party office and find out for sure.

Best of luck to you!!!

We can use a few good men (and women!) in the Congress.

4. DU it! We need our officials to start at the ground up.
And it gives you great experience for when you run for US Congress!

It will be hard to campaign - it takes money. I think you can be creative and make it not cost so much.

7. The Funny thing is the area is so small that I wouldn't need much..
Maybe 2000 or so. The current officeholder won evey election with roughly $1000 raised each cycle. I should be able to get that much. I'd like to get enough to overwhelm my opponent. Not many big spenders in small town MT.

9. Are you a public speaker? Articulate?
I'm asking in case I may want to run some days as well!

I have been told I do ok at speaking but inside I am a total FREAKING mess - it take alot out of me to speak in front of people and I get nervous.

What about you?

Do you know 'legally' how you enter into the race?

10. I'm not bad.....
I'm naturally humorous. I have more anxiety about speaking one on one with people than in front of a crowd.
