I'm afraid. I watched the first part of Gasbag Russert's
interview with John McCain, and I found McCain generally appealing to the masses on issues of global warming concerns, not pandering to the corporations when it comes to the environment, and a need for immigration reform. He seemed somewhat disinterested in the abortion issue although he has his preferences. He appeared sincere and likeable.

McCain describes Bush's Iraq problem (paraphrased) as partly a leadership and sales problem. He says Bush needs to sound more honest to the public about it being a long hard slog to reach our objectives. But he sided with Bush on not delivering a specific time frame for troop reduction, just when the Iraqis are ready to handle their own security.

Of course, he'll never have my support, especially after kissing up to Bush in the campaign.

14. If the powers that be would have attacked my husband like
Rove-Co. attacked McCain's wife and adopted child, I would have NOT ever forgiven them. Maybe, at one time he had integrity, but no more. It's just sad.

When I lived in AZ, he intervened for our small company with the US Government. It was BEAUTIFUL! His staffers were there for the "small business" people.

However, I feel that he sold his soul during 2000, to a darker side. He'll never be considered as corrupt as the RW republicans to me, but he's lost his sparkle. Again, it's just sad. :(

2. He needs the fundie stamp of approval before he will get the
nomination. McCain won't make it out of the primaries.

15. No, they want somebody like Jeb or Frist. If McCain is the nominee,
they'll support him but that support will be tepid at best.

3. McCain is another Powell media created myth.
The only Democrat who can win against McCain in 08 is one who would have "clean hands" to expose him for what he is (when push comes to shove another self-serving politician willing to put his own desires for power ahead of what is good for the country). Since I don't think that will happen, get ready for "President" McCain in 08.

9. Blah!!!!!
Fooled me once, not going to fool me again. McCain doesn't have an honest opinion on anything. He just remains middle of the road because he thinks that will get him where he needs to be and that is what the public wants. I really think he allowed himself to be used by this administration during the last election selling out an old friend and looking like a fool hugging and kissing and going around promoting Bush. His actions demonstrated to me he actually doesn't have any backbone. I don't want him as president and I never let go of an opportunity to let people know what a jerk he actually is.

11. "Bush needs to sound more honest..." LOL!
Yeah, that's the ticket. If you could just sound more honest, Mr. President, while you sacrifice our soldiers and run the Treasury into ruin to enrich your corporate oil baron and contractor cronies, that would be great.

13. McCain says Army has to appeal to patriotism to get fodder
He didn't say fodder, but, imagine, appeal to patriotism so a 19 year old kid can die in chimpie's war. And this guy is a fuckin' hero to the beltway whores?

16. He also mealy mouthed Frist's Schiavo diagnosis and generally
had the backs of all Republicans under attack. (Democrats can learn from this. Republicans project unity by never speaking badly of another puke, no matter what. Politics is a game and this is something Dems need to learn. Generally, we're way too honest not to speak our minds and then it appears - in the media - that we're disorganized and feuding.)
