Bush wounded by anger over war
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,2089-1659988,00.html

<snip>
INCREASING American concern about the conduct of the war in Iraq has forced President George W Bush to sideline some of his domestic priorities in favour of a new public relations drive to bolster confidence in the coalition effort.
Iraq will return to the top of the American political agenda this week when the president delivers the first of several speeches aimed at reversing a damaging slide in his approval ratings.

Ibrahim al-Jaafari, the Iraqi prime minister, will pay his first visit to the White House as part of a co-ordinated attempt to boost confidence in both Iraq and America.

The president’s move follows complaints in his own party that the public has been misled about the coalition’s difficulties in Iraq. Almost 100 Americans and several hundred Iraqis have died since the beginning of last month despite a claim by Dick Cheney, the vice-president, that the insurgency was in its “last throes”.

1. Well, that's better than being wounded in combat, isn't it, George?
Oh, that's right. It was your last two opponents who'd actually gone to Vietnam while you ducked out on your champagne squadron "service." So you wouldn't know.

please go back & read the pentagon papers, or maybe people's history of the united states, on that little concept. last time we heard the insurgency was in it's last throes, it was just before the tet offensive in vietnam.
little home work for you, uncle dick.

And if he is wounded I've got some lemon juice to go with the salt.

8. As the casualties rise, and no end in sight for the war, bush has
assured himself the wrath of the citizenry. There will be no Grand Parades, there will be no grandiose speeches; there will only be the nationwide sigh of relief when this is over.

bush has exacted the anger of the those who were duped into believing that Iraq was a threat. Those who still support him in this fiasco, are the indifferent and ignorant....and those making bundles of cash off the blood of our sons and daughters.

I am in Nebraska, and NO ONE is touting bush anymore. If there is support for him, it is hidden. If NE can't stand this baboon, I would suppose the rest of the country is ready to tar and feather him...:)
At one time, I was called a traitor by those around here, now I am called a prophet, go figure.

I find it uplifting that some of the GOP members of Congress are starting to stand up against this pea-brained administration. There is hope on the horizon.

13. In Texas - Travis Co went BLUE
But there are still plethoras of Chimp 'n Chain-ee stickers on SUVs here.
I am thinking the owners will move towards a " circle the wagons " mentality against the truth that dawns on more intelligent folk in other states.

Still I enjoy knowing the Chimp administration is increasingly harder to defend each passing day, dying of hubris and other self inflicted maladies. The GoP had a chance and they blew it. Sand is running out.

14. It certainly seems that way.
I'm in Portland, which is part of the "Left Coast". My boss, however, has always been a die-hard Repub. We've had many fights about the Repubs versus the Dem's. Last November, my boss was gloating big time over his election victory. I was furious.

Last week, however, he came to me and finally admitted that I was right. He said, "the war in Iraq was based on lies". He's worried about the economy. He even went to his Repub congressman and complained about the deficits, and the congress critter just shrugged.

At my sister's office, people are now openly talking about Bush, the Anti-Christ. They're not really hiding it, either.

Even on this board, there's a new level of acrimony that I haven't seen before. So -- it's happening.

9. Some how the American people are just not getting it.
Sorry about the wounds, Lemon juice and salt coming right up.

Maybe if he goes on a 60 day squeaking tour, he can get public support.

If he thinks he is not well received now lets fast forward a few months and see if things get better. I'm thinking at best he may spend the rest of his years hiding under a rock in Crawfish, Texas A less intelligent crustacean there never was.
