First, Hagel, Jones. Next, ???? Strategies.

Which Republican is likely to speak out against Iraq?

Will it be another Senator?
Are any Rep House members likely to join Hagel and Jones?

The idea here is to apply gentle well thought out pressure to certain Republicans who might be ready to speak out anyway. If a couple more Reps bail out on Iraq, like Hagel, the media will undoubtedly jump on it, and get off the inane rhetorical criticisms of recent days (Dean, and now Durbin).

This has a larger, strategic goal and that is to keep the media focus on the Republicans. They won't be able to ignore it. They'll be talking about fractures in the party, and by doing so may actually bring such a thing about. (I leave to another thread the discussion of the likelihood/benefits/liabilities of that event.)

Rephrasing the questions more generally:

What can we do as activists to exploit the current situation?
To exploit possible Republican bailouts on Iraq?
To move media focus to the Republicans?

On edit: references to Jones.
