Serious question: When can Bush no longer get away with "NO?"
"President Bush, please respond to the petition signed by over a half million U.S. citizens and over 100 members of Congress to provide a detailed response to the evidence in the Downing Street Minutes."

Bush: "NO"

"President Bush, please bring our troops home. Over 1700 good men and women have died needlessly. Please don't let another drop of American blood be shed on Iraqi soil."

Bush: "NO"

On, and on, and on, and ON.

At what point does Bush relinquish the right to respond with "NO?"

Impeachment? Or something else in the political process that I'm not aware of?

1. We will force himself into it, this is our nation, our government
He must go because he is not listening to us, the owners of this nation.

St Peter: Well, W do you know where you are?
W: No
St. Peter: Well, your at the way station. You have to account for your life before we can decide whether you go to heaven or hell. I've reviewed your records. Do you have anything to say in your own defense?
W: No
(St. Peter picks up the phone) Helloe, Hades? Pete here. Calling to Confirm that reservation tonite at the Lava Pit Restaurant. George W. Bush. Yeah, you can seat'em with Nixon. They'll have a lot to talk about, and a lot of time to talk.

St. Peter: Well, George, take the first left and hoip on the elevator. You're going down. Understand?

W: No.

St. Peter (frowns) Gabriel, will you take this little fellow to the elevator? Oh and here's his goat book.

W: YESSSS!!!

As W skips happily down the hall, St. Peter shakes his head.

3. As long as the broadcast media lets him.
Like it or not, the print press doesn't drive the story. Only a few million citizens are informed via legitimate journalism while a hundred million are misled by the broadcast media on a daily basis - 24/7.

5. Leverage! Action needed!

We need to exploit the current situation.

Iraq is *'s downfall.

Two Republicans have now bailed-out on support for the illegal war.

We need to apply reasoned, well-thought out pressure to other Republicans to join the brave patriots Jones and Hagel.

This will foment the vision that the Reps can no longer hold their party together so monolithically. It will pull the press off the Dem's backs and will put extreme pressure on the WH which views such things most seriously.

This is a crucial time for us to activate and take advantage of this crack in their facade. It's a jiu-jitsu move.

The focus? Iraq!
The target? Moderate or moderate-leaning Republican Congresscritters.

8. Hagel is not a brave patriot against this tyranny
He stood up to the war before it started but eventually signed off on it anyway. He speaks constantly against the President but always votes with him anyway. He's a two-face, and he's a slimy politician. He's a wolf in sheep's clothing and should not be trusted.

9. Sorry.
I make an argument to exploit these apparent defections politically, and you give me a rhetorical argument. I would appreciate it if you could read past the "brave patriot" part and comment on the thrust of the post.

Thank you.

11. My point is that Hagel hasn't done anything
He'll still vote with them on every important thing. The guy has to run for President. He's not going to do anything to jeopardize his standing in the party any further.
