He is running. He just might get the nod, could you support him? Who would you rather see? Pro and cons, lets hear them.

But it's really too early for me to get engaged with a specific candidate.

12. If nominated I will support
But I will work like hell for an acceptable progressive alternative who more closely aligns with my vision of the future. Biden (aka Senator MBNA) is not someone I will be comfortable with, I prefer not to have a DLC person as our nominee. And he is included in the list of the dirty 19.

30. Exactly
And he has way too much baggage. He'd lose in a landslide. I just think he's just the kind of overly-compromised politician that Karl Rove would love to go up against.

The 19 should never ever have a shot. He is compromised, and I just don't think he has the courage to stand up to the badguys. Proven.

Very impressive one week, terrible the next. Sometimes I want to cheer for him and other times he makes me almost lose my lunch. I sincerely hope we can find someone better than Biden.

I'd prefer Clark. Southern, not TOO moderate, quick on his feet, and the military credentials.

13. absolutely NOT!!! I'm sorry, Sen. Hair Club for Men does not get my vote.
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 05:13 PM by Raster
First of all, he voted FOR the bankruptcy bill. The bill was WRITTEN by MBNA. Literally. biden has his nose so far up the money boys butt, if they make a hard right he's gonna need to see a doctor. Second, his criticizm of Howard Dean. I guess biden likes being a charter member of the spinless dems club. I am sick-to-fucking-death of spineless dems. They are part of the reason we are in the mess we are now. It's time to stop appeasing and start standing up for what we believe, what we know is right. The numbers don't lie. The majority of the American people feel the same way we do. They believe in reproductive choice. They believe personal decisions should be just that, PERSONAL. The majority of people do NOT, repeat NOT, believe that two gay men having a civil union is going to bring the end of civilization as we know it. They are VERY, VERY concerned about IRAQ and the cluster-fuck it has been since day one. Oh, 'scuze me, ONE YEAR BEFORE DAY ONE!!! Back to the original question, No, I would not support biden. He's a professional politician. We've had way too many of them--OF BOTH PARTIES--for my taste. He's part of the system now. I want reformers. I want leaders who are as little tainted by the system as possible.

On edit: I would support him ONLY if he somehow got the nomination. I would support, but be very dissapointed that more qualified candidates did not get the nod.

19. His problem isn't that he is "spineless" - he belongs to the wrong party.
Biden is really just a moderate Republican and he shafts the country (like Lieberman) for not joining the party that is closer to his actual belief system. So, he's not spineless, he's just a hypocritical prick.

15. He's just as much a liar as Bush - no way would I support him
Beyond that, MBNA has their hands so far down his pockets it makes me want to puke. Granted, I don't believe there will actually BE an election in 2008, so the point is moot. However, he already had to drop out of one Presidential race because he plagiarized - does he think people forget these things so easily?

Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 05:21 PM by Presidentcokedupfrat
AKA the "Credit Card Company Welfare Act." I know, he's from Delaware, which is home to many banks, but Biden should have known better. Most people don't declare bankruptcy because they spend too much on vacations and luxuries; they usually have lost a job, gone through a divorce, or had a medical expense they can't pay for.

That vote has made me think long and hard about voting for him.

Having said that, I would vote for him if he is the Democratic nominee. Look at the alternative.

39. I will support him and he's better then Hillary...
He's much more to the center and he has a way of speaking that makes his point without pissing people off the other side. He can move to the middle and he knows Foreign relations. Perhaps he has a love/hate relationship with some of the party core like McCain has with the Repubs, but I bet the GOP leaders who are dreaming of Hillary running are much more worried about Biden running then Hillary.

However, even though I like him in many matters, we are slitting our wrists if we nominated ANY Senator from the NE...no matter how moderate or conservative they are. And that includes Hillary.

We really need to look to the South and to a governor or at least not to an active Senator with a recent voting records to be plastered all over.

46. If the Democrats want us to be unified
then they need to elect a unifying candidate. We did all we could in 2004 without question. 95% of the delegates to the convention were against the war and although many of us had great reservations about the ticket, we searched and found common ground. Now the party thinks that they can do the same again.

Well, maybe the time has come to quit digging the hole.

If you are tired of politics as usual, if the vote on critical issues leaves you scratching your head, if you wonder why the party doesn't seem to listen, just look at the way you vote.

Hold them accountable for their actions and they will understand that you mean it.

Joe Biden is probably a very nice person but he has stabbed the ordinary citizen in the back one too many times.

But Biden would make me feel dirty doing it. Others have said it all here. Overly-compromised, talks a good game then weak when it counts. He should stay a Senator and try to be a stronger Democrat in that venue.
