"I am proud of Howard Dean"
Not "Howard Dean doesn't speak for the party."

No backpedalling away from the chairman.

Now WHY the HELL can't we celebrate THAT comment from Wesley Clark the way we lamented the other comments from Richardson and others.

Is it because some Dean folk and some Clark folk can't get along?

Well, to HELL with that!

I'm proud of Howard Dean. And I'm proud of Wesley Clark.

WHO'S with me!

5. The two very best....
The Corporate media offers us Biden and Hillary, but what in the f*ck have they really done for us and for this country? I haven't heard them speak of anything relevant for quite some time now.....like forever!

THe media loves them, and keeps telling us these are the ones.

Now, here we have two others; Howard Dean and Wesley Clark.....going around and calling folks for what they are....and stepping into the lyon's Den to make sure that ALL Americans understands what's wrong with this administration.

Yet, you never really hear anything good reported about them from the media.

So what's the deal?

15. I think I know
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 07:06 PM by FreedomAngel82
It's manipulation. See, there's this whole "liberal media" myth out there and they're trying to use that for their advantage. They think if they put out Biden and Clinton that we'd all jump on the bandwagon etc. I'm not a huge fan of Biden but he does some things right and I do respect and like Mrs. Clinton but I don't want her as our nominee either. We need someone strong who will for sure take back our country.
I think this is how they did it with Howard Dean in our last primaries. They manipulated and made him out to be a "crazy and mad liberal" when none of that is true. They're trying to pounce on Biden and Clinton because they think we'll fall for it and they'll be easy to beat with their canidate (probably McCain). That's what it is I think.

6. Not even "We all misspeak sometimes" Just Pride
And I am proud of both of them also, and I will add, of you for starting this thread, since neither man ended up being your first choice in 2004. We all have to rise above those old divisions. We don't have to enthusiastically support every statement made by all the key Democrats, but we DO need to appreciate who is on our team.

9. Yes, I'm proud of them both.
I'm proud of those who have the courage to speak truth to power.

Overheated rhetoric isn't needed. We have the truth on our side. We don't need to backpedal, cover our backsides, and judge everything by political triangulation. If we get out there, led by General Clark, Governor Dean, and others who won't blink, we'll be able to reclaim this country.

Real American heroes. Real deals who would rather go down fighting than live whimpering while on their knees!

Damned right, Dean speaks for me.

I am proud of anyone who refuses to take neo-con bullsh*t without apology or appeasement, and who doesn't feel he needs to be polite. They show us no mercy, and that's how we should fight back... no mercy!

19. We Are All Democrats!
I have heard a few things from Wes Clark recently on C-SPAN--this Democratic group Flag Day speech played today, and a recent panel discussion on foriegn affairs--and am more impressed with Clark all the time. The same thing happened to me during last year's campaign with John Kerry; the more I learned and heard, the more impressed I got. We Democrats have a lot of great candidates and we don't need to be at each other's throats or turning to the old DLC.

I have been on this website for about a half a year, and one of the more disturbing and incoherent things about it, has been the attacks that go on between groups of supporters of candidates, any one of whom I would've been happy to support for President. I was for Kerry, I support Dean, and the more I hear from Clark, the more I like Clark. Especially now, when we have a chance to finally get a real opposition going again, and show the American people who really has their interests at heart, we have a lot of people to be proud of.

21. That happened to me with Kerry as well
I was a nominal Clarkie, and knew nothing about the other candidates. I was only about half away, politically.

But I felt strongly enough about Bush that it drove me into finding out more about Kerry. The more I found out, the more I understood him, the more I fell in love by the end. It still hurts my heart that he didn't make it.

But now I'm all about unity. Don't get me wrong, we need the constructive criticism that people can bring, but the snarky bitchiness and working against last year's rivals isn't helpful.

I'm ABC at the moment, and even there, if I have to, I will set about figuring out how to get excited about Hillary if she is our nominee. Biden, if possible, is even harder a sell for me. But I will begin the same process that brought me to Kerry if I need to. Because I honestly think that the Democratic Party MUST get back into power to save our country. It's not about "yea team" and playing the game. It's about saving the damn country.

And I never will.

I don't understand the fuss on either side of the Dean aisle. It isn't difficult throwing red meat to your own base. It doesn't change or "shake up" the status quo like his supporters claim.

There is just something slick and empty about Dean.

34. Here's my LTTE about Dean
Damn straight I'm proud of him. This letter is in response to this stupid cartoon, which ran in our local paper, The Newark Star Ledger on June 10:

Here's my letter, which was printed a few days ago:

Friday’s Star-Ledger (June 10) carried a cartoon that essentially called Howard Dean a fool for his recent candid comments on the state of the Republican party. His tactics apparently went over the head of your cartoonist.

Mr. Dean is fighting fire with fire. He is framing the debate. Here’s how that works:

Dean comments on the ethnic makeup of the Republican party. This gets people talking and generates debate questions like: "Is the Republican party a bastion of white right-wing Christian nuts who want to send people to re-education camps, or is that unfair?" The question is debated on TV, radio and the newspaper and soon people are thinking “Hmm, I never really noticed, but…”

The tactic was used by Nevada Senator Harry Reid when he called Bush a “loser.” He later apologized for it but carefully noted that Bush was still a liar.

See how that works? Clue your cartoonist, Drew Sheneman, that there’s more here than meets the eye.

Signed my name and town.

Cher

p.s. I received several e-mails and calls of support on this letter, too. And thanks to Plaid Adder for inspiration to write this letter.

MOTION TO DSC 6/12/05

THE DEMOCRATIC STATE COMMITTEE OF THE MAINE DEMOCRATIC PARTY SUPPORTS HOWARD DEAN, CHAIR OF THE DNC.

WE ENDORSE HOWARD DEAN'S EFFORTS TO ENGAGE THE GRASS ROOTS AND TO FUND AND EMPOWER THE STATE, COUNTY AND TOWN COMMITTEES SO THAT THE COMMITTEE MEMBERS PLAY A LARGER ROLE IN DEMOCRATIC PARTY DECISION-MAKING.

WE PROTEST THE PUBLIC STATEMENTS OF A SMALL NUMBER OF ELECTED DEMOCRATIC LEGISLATORS CRITICAL OF HOWARD DEAN'S ACTIONS AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE DNC.

49. A commentary by Marianne Means
on Dean..

"Democrats need Dean"

There's reason Demos are in minority these days -- too timid

MARIANNE MEANS

N.Y. Times News Service

SNIP~
WASHINGTON - "Buck up, Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean. You're on the right track. Noisy is good. Mean is even better.

The Republicans can ridicule you all they want. It only means you have their attention and they are worried. The lame duck blues are upon them. And they need a taste of their own medicine.

The Democratic congressional leadership, as usual nervous about Dean's outspoken habit, cravenly criticized Dean for recent incendiary anti-GOP comments and urged him to tone it down.

But there's a reason the Democrats are in the minority everywhere in the federal government -- too much timidity in the face of controversy. Grow a spine, fellows. When the Republicans push, promptly push back."
