Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 10:08 PM by Wetzelbill
Not really. I just thought I'd even out the positive remarks a little.

Just think. We don't even have to wait four years to denigrate each other's chosen Presidential candidates. We can do it now and insure a Frist/Santorum/Jeb Bush/insertcrazyrepuke presidency.

16. I feel that way when we unnecessarily attack
any of the former candidates and continue the primary wars. I thought the op was making the point generally, not just in regards to Clark.

And I find your post unnecessarily insulting as well. Each pol has supporters whom one might term buttheaded, but your brush is entirely to broad toward Clarkies.

24. I try to be civil.
My primary wars, for the most part, are over.

I still don't like Edwards (and that's personal - something he did to my family) but I don't actively seek to can him (even though I was accused of it when he dissed Dean and I posted a thread.)

But, hell, I like all the rest of 'em just fine (save Lieberman and well, gee) and eight out of 10 ain't bad!

34. People passionate about their candidate sometimes
get touchy. They'll defend their boy with all their heart. I can respect and understand that.

I would say Clark supporters aren't any less extreme than Deaniacs or the like, in the passion department. But yeah, some people can be confrontational and issue ultimatum type rhetoric. But, I still find Clark supporters much more inclusive than Bush. Night and day. They are intelligent, passionate and thoughtful people. Just watch out if you piss them off a little. The fight can get ugly pretty quick. :)

I'm quite Green myself nowadays, but I still call myself a Democrat. I'm glad you replied to my topic.

And if he doesn't.. then whoever our nominee is will be there for a good reason. :)

35. I'd have no problem voting for Wes Clark in '08 if he were the nominee
I'd be proud to do so. Not sure who I'm planning to support just yet. I went down with DK this last year, but I'm proud I voted my convictions for Kucinich in the AZ primary, and then did so again in November for John Kerry. Democrats, as screwed up as our party is when it comes to leadership and getting elected, are still the best best hope our country has. We have some work to do in finding our morality again and so on, but we're better than the other side for sure.

26. All Clark, all the time
Yes, the events of the week focus attention on him, but there's FAR too much focus given this man on this board. There are somewhere around 6.5 billion people in the world. Just stop.

He's been given the benefit of the doubt for signing with Hate, Inc., and he's been given a pass for legitimizing an entity that should never be granted the acceptance as a real source of impartial news. Is be to be a sacred aristocrat who's permanently above reproach? No.

He's gotten off VERY LIGHTLY FOR THIS. Isn't that enough?

Answer me this: would you have been as tolerant had John Edwards signed with Fox as a legal consultant? I'd like to hear that answer. The hardcore Edwards supporters on this board (few though they may be) have stayed out of this brouhaha. Leaving it at that would have been more decorous; going on a continual offensive in support of the knight in shining armor is just more annoyance.

29. "Gotten off lightly?" I wasn't aware he committed a crime.
You bring up the very controversy that's created many of the threads you're seeing.

Why are you making this into a competition involving Edwards? Yes, if Edwards chose to be a legal analyst for Fox, I'd applaud him!

"Just stop" indeed.

30. I can't speak for others but I would have defended Edwards
That might or might not have changed depending on how things went, but initially I would have defended him. Strong Democratic voices should be heard on FOX if the round rules allow that Democrat to be treated with respect. That is the advantage of being a FOX commentator as opposed to a talking head punching bag, by the way. Ground rules get written into the contract. Mikes don't simply get turned off.

33. My God this is all too familiar
only I'm used to answering Kerry threads with that tone.

They are not going to "just stop." Kerry supporters aren't going to "just stop." Dean people aren't going to "just stop." Nor should they have to.

There is nothing at all wrong with talking about the man when he's making news.

Go and see what the mod said about your locked thread. Some discussion about Clark is to be expected.

36. yeah, I would be tolerant of Edwards if he joined Fox
I could care less who is on Fox. I don't watch it anyway. What I do care about is the person as a whole. I think Clark is a good man with great intellect. I was a big Edwards supporter, he was my second pick behind Kucinich. I think John Edwards is a great guy. A Fox news gig wouldn't change that.
