Let's put the Biden/MBNA partnership inter perspective here
First, I'm from Delaware and I'm not supporting Joe Biden for president. Not because of his connection to the banking industry but because personally I feel he's another Al Gore & John Kerry - 2 men who I felt had no 'fire in their bellies' when it came to running for president.

However, everyone acts like it's such a shock that Joe Biden gets all this money from MBNA and other credit card companies. Hell, his Wilmington office is in the MBNA building and the other 2 - Sen. Carper & Rep Castle have their offices in other Credit Card company buildings. I live in Wilmington DE and yes, I work for a credit card company - hard to guess huh

But seriously, you think Joe Biden isn't the only in bed with 'Evil Corporations' Where's the outrage from Mary Landrieu's support of drilling in ANWR (The other LA dem, former Sen John Breaux was also in support). Why the hell do they support the oil companies? Well, maybe because they live in an oil producing state

In fact - take a look at top industry support in 2002 when both Mary & Joe were up for election:

Joe Biden #5 - Finance/Banking industry
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/indus.asp?CID=N00001669&cycle=2002

Mary Landrieu #2 - Oil & Gas
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/indus.asp?CID=N00005395&cycle=2002

In fact, in 2002, Mary Landrieu received 3xs as much money from the Gas&Oil industry as Biden did from Finance. And suprisingly not both of them received their top contributions from Lawyers

Now, I'm not one to rip Mary Landrieu - she's a good senator and I know she spearheaded the anti-lynching bill. But I could spend the rest of my day researching all the democratic senators and representatives and the one common factor you'll find is that they probably receive the most money from the biggest industries in their state.

I don't care why you refuse to support Joe Biden, like I said, I'm not and I'm from his home state (although I would vote for him for Senator again). But as you call Biden "Mr. MBNA" remember that all the other senators out there are pretty much doing the same thing unfortunately.

Thank you for that rant!

1. We need to get the money out of politics, or policy will continue to favor
corporate donors over the electorate.

2. I live in a state that produces more oil than Louisiana and both
of my senators voted against ANWR...hell...the Los Angeles basin has more oil under it than ANWR.

Sometimes, you have to do the right thing for Americans..

5. I didn't say it was a perfect system
It's a flawed system for campaign finance - that's the most important thing here

4. Yes they are all in the pockets of lobbyists especially DLC Dems
The reason Biden shouldn't be nominated is because he does not present a clear choice. Why vote for Biden when you can get almost the exact same policy from the GOP.

10. 100% Publicly Financed Campaigns!
It's the only way to return power to the people. Either that or randomly select a percentage of the populace to serve, as the ancient greeks did.

11. thanks for some of the clarification...
Everyone should reminder that he's a Senator. I don't know how many bills that I send to Wilmington DE. Of course, he will support the industry in his State. HE will protect the jobs and the interest in his state. If he doesn't protect the jobs and interests in his state then he will be voted out as a Senator in that State.

I'm from Washington and Murrey and Cantell will fight tooth and nail for Boeing even with the scandals and they supported the trade agreements that I don't agree with. However, they represent our state and our business interests and it's the best interest for Washington Businesses to have open trade agreements.
