A bit of good news from Maryland
Baltimore mayor Martin O'Malley held a major fundraiser yesterday. While he has yet to officially announce his run for governor against Nazi Bob Ehrlich, he is well on his way to closing the campaign funding gap. Ehrlich has something in the magnitude of $5 million. Yesterday's fat cat fundraiser for O'Malley brings his total to well over $3 million, more than three times the amount raised by his primary challenger, Montgomery County exec Doug Duncan.

O'Malley was introduced by Thomas D'Alessandro, former Baltimore mayor and father of House Leader Nancy Pelosi.

(And to do a little ethnic horn tooting ..... Nancy Pelosi is the highest ranking elected Italian-American in US history, and a member of one of the most prominent Italian-American political families, one that elected more candidates than the more famous Cuomos. Nancy's father and grandfather both served as Baltimore mayors.)
