Slate Slams the DSM
The second-most disrespectful treatment of the DSM next to the WaPo's lame editorial:

5. He is right in some respects
The DSM really doesn't tell us anything that wasn't discernible or to some degree, common knowledge, among government insiders and the watchers. Bush was determined to topple Saddam and used WMD as the justification.

The real issue is how lax the press and frankly, Democrats who voted in favor of this farce (now tragedy) based upon the WMD pretext were. All the "intelligence was bad" hoopla is more bullshit after manure. I suspect no one was really too surprised at the WMD outcome despite all protestations to the contrary.

The no BS truth is that Bush used the patriotic fear and hysteria following 9/11 to pursue another agenda which he wrapped up in the sacrosanct flag to stifle opposition. By and large, that opposition from both the media and many Democratic leaders was stifled in a glaring display of moral cowardice.

6. And if you liked this, you'll love Hitchen's "Mommie Dearest"
"The pope beatifies Mother Teresa, a fanatic, a fundamentalist, and a fraud."

7. What else would one expect from Hitchens?
The man is a drunken slob, whose best days are behind him. The only way he gets noticed at all is when he writes this sort of drivel.

He's an idiot. Take it from whence it comes... Slate needs to drop-kick this loser theough the goalpost of life!

8. Bush lied when he kept repeating "war was his last resort." DSM proves it.
It is the "smoking gun" and cries out for an immediate Congressional investigation.

Does anyone doubt the Republicans would be screaming from the Capitol dome if the shoe were on the other foot?
