Frist reverses himself after meeting with Bush about the Bolton appointment and says he will push for a floor vote.
That causes damage not only to Frist, but the Republicans as they show, in a rare moment, a lack of coordination as well as a power play by Bush over the Republican Senate....
If Republican Senators were worth their while, they'd be pushing Bush to recess appoint... so why arent' they...?
More importantly though... all the tough talk from the admin about recess appointing Bolton means they weren't serious... a HUGE sign of weakness by the Bush admin.
The Admin is weak, the Republican Senators are WEAK... it's time to go for the full-court press...
PUSH the DSM, PUSH the Bolton defeat and PUSH against all the NEOCON/PNAC AGENDA B.S. they've been trying to shove down our throat the last 4 years...
Dean is absolutely the right guy for the job to take these criminals to task.
It's up to us to keep the grass roots ON FIRE!!!
Keep talking DSM, keep talking DRAFT, keep talking IRAQ, keep talking about everything the administration wants to shut us up about!!! Keep up the good work!
I sense a sweeping victory in 2006!

2. No, Bush's hope is to destroy the Senate. |
|
Tie it up, bring it down, end all comity, blow it up.
Bush ruins every institution and law and principle he touches, because institutions and laws and principles are checks on his absolute power.
That's what's going on.

19. The literary analogy is Oedipus Rex |
|
Edited on Tue Jun-21-05 05:34 PM by Inland
The king stands before the people, who have been stricken by the plague, promising to placate the gods---not knowing that it is his own evil in killing his father and marrying his mother that is the sin that is bringing divine retribution on the city.
Well, not the best analogy, but I see nothing but decay and evil and hypocrisy and deception and self deception radiating from Bush as he stands before the people promising goodness and good intentions. It's almost tangible, the decay and rot.
This Admin. is so contrary to everything America says it believes in that it is destroying everything that had to do with that "old america" and replacing it with the state built on lies, the protofascist state.

He's already losing support in his own party.
This will only create more backlash against the administration from Republicans.

9. Frist's flip-flop is a move to prevent further party divisiveness. |
|
That's my take. If Bush were to appoint Bolton during Senate recess, it would create a lot of anger in both parties.
It's gratifying to see when a tyrant's abuse of power comes to a head & his supporters finally say 'enough's enough - no more.'
Bush's leadership is as bad as Saddam's was.

10. I say let Bush give Bolton a "recess appointment". |
|
All the better for Howard Dean and the DNC to pound the GOP into the ground like a tent peg for the full 18 months of the appointment, into the 2006 elections!

getting the word out that if you re-elect republican congress people we will be in Iraq for a long time to come. And if you want this war to end, vote for a democrat. It's time to become the "end the war" party. Public opinion shows people have finally had enough of it! Also, people no longer are falling for this "Bush will keep you safer" crap. The tide is definitly turning in our favor. Thanks for your post.

15. The neocons seem to be sqirming |

They are losing some of the old style Repubs and that can't be good. Having once been a Repub I can identify with some that are rebelling against Bush. One of the main reasons I turned Dem is the religious issue, womens rights, and the courts. Bush is the worst of the worse since he is being lead around by the worst. I figure Rove will be next in line to carry on since we all know he is idolized by the idiots who think he is brilliant. How to get the attention of those people that work their butt off making ends meet don't have time to figure out what is really happening to this country. It may be the gas prices, SS, health care or the fate of our troops that gets their attention. You know, the basics. Course talking tax cuts excites those that don't know better.
