was browsing Dean's blog, seems to be a lot of NBD sentiment |

I was reading Dean's blog, and there were a number of people saying they would never vote for Kerry or anyone else.
I think there is a large Dean or green contingent still, there was a lot of talk about this a few months ago at DU.
I don't doubt Dean would unite behind the nominee should his bid fail, hopefully a majority of his supporters would follow his lead.

3. If Dean is not the kind of guy who would unite against Bush |
|
..then he would not have deserved consideration in the first place. Dean will unite behind Kerry just as Kerry would unite behind Dean.

5. Yes, I saw that as well. |

There is sentiment on DU like that as well. People have said they would not vote or vote Green or Socialist but not for any democrat except Dean.
This is called Democratic Underground but it is a board for progressives.
Although Dean's record in VT is hardly progressive, a lot of people have bought into the hype. Unfortunately, I don't think this has helped the party because I too have found democrats, Deanocrats (for lack of a better word), socialists and greens.
I believe the democrats will win the election, but I don't know how many Dean supporters will be voting democratic at this point.

Kerry wouldn't win over the anti-war crowd anyway.

7. This is why Dean said that some of |
|
his supporters' votes are not transferrable. And a lot of it is not the man as much as it is the movement and community around Dean. People like to call us a cult or kool-aid drinkers, but the fact is that Howard Dean is a true populist candidate - maybe he has not always been this way, but this has been the way the campaign is since I've been a part of it (almost a year).

8. I think there are some disruptors inside the Dean campaign |

not to impugn the good loyal Democrats who make up the bulk of Dean's supporters, but there is a small number who are pretending to be Democrats. They have no intention of voting for any Democrat other than Dean, and they probably have no intention of voting for Dean either. I'm mostly talking about the NRA/Confederate Flag waving voters who are pretending to be Democrats. It's pretty clear how they'll vote in November, regardless of who we nominate.

Dean received the highest NRA rating as governor of Vermont. I've been trolling Libertarian sites, and they at least get it - they like Dean for his Libertarian positions on guns, civil liberties, choice, etc. I have often heard them struggle with who to vote for. They detest Bush. But distrust Dem candidates. Dean is often seen as the best option. Dean also has many supporters in the south. He's received a lot of money from the south. Truth is, those among the working class in the south who are falling for Bush's con jobs are going to be a tough nut to crack for any Democrat. Hopefully a jobless recovery and dead friends in Iraq will give them something to think about between now and November.

IF Dean is eliminated, I'd be surprised if you could find more than a handful of true Dean supporters who wouldn't vote for the Democratic candidate.
For some, Kerry is seen as the standard issue Washington politician that caused their unrest & distrust in the first place and the reason they turned to Dean - BUT that doesn't mean they prefer Bush.
I've met TONS of Dean supporters personally, and every one has been ABB. And I've seen just as much talk from Kerry (and other) supporters that they won't vote for Dean. You take that with a grain of salt at this stage of the game - everyone is posturing to get their pick chosen.
Threads like this just get everyone riled up and divide the party - I fail to see why someone in good conscience would post them. Any of us could post threads like this about any other candidate - thankfully more of us have greater restraint than you showed.

13. I have looked at most canidate's blogs and... |
|
They all say very much the same thing, "My candidate is the only good one and the rest are awful." I think the reason for that is that most folks who go to these blogs are the die-hards for their candidate. I do not think you can judge all their supporters by the few who post on the blogs.

15. You can read the same sort of stuff on any candidate's blog. |
|
I've perused them all, and there are a lot of suupporters who are WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too personally-invested in their candidate at this point, to the exclusion of all the others. I'm not looking for a Messiah, I'm looking for a WINNER who holds generally-progressive positions across the spectrum of issues, and 5 of the remaining 7 meet that standard, IMO. :)
